56 New Cases of COVID Reported Since Friday

novel coronavirus Covid-19 HumboldtPress release from Humboldt County Public Health:

Humboldt County Public Health reported 56 additional cases of COVID-19 since Friday, bringing to 9,071 the total number of residents who have tested positive for the virus. No hospitalizations or deaths were reported.

One hundred eighty doses of vaccine were administered over the weekend at Public Health’s mobile vaccination clinics held in Eureka and Miranda. Health officials continue to urge all eligible residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Residents, particularly those who are unvaccinated, should get tested if they are experiencing symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus. Testing is available through OptumServe seven days a week at the Wharfinger Building in Eureka and at mobile sites throughout the county most weekdays. For more information about testing, go to humboldtgov.org/covidtestregistration.

On Wednesday, Oct. 20, the OptumServe testing site at the Fortuna River Lodge will be closed. Instead, Public Health will offer PCR testing at that site on Friday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. Pre-registration is required. To sign up, visit the Color test registration page.

Residents who receive their first or second dose at a vaccination clinic located at a Public Health office in Eureka, Willow Creek or Garberville can choose a $25 Renner Petroleum or Coming Attractions Theatres gift card. Incentives are offered on a first-come, first-served basis at those locations only.

The county’s vaccination and testing services are available free of charge. Appointments for Public Health vaccination clinics are not required but are recommended due to an increase in demand for additional doses and boosters. Sign up in advance at MyTurn.ca.gov. For instructions in English and Spanish on how to use My Turn, go to humboldtgov.org/VaccineInfo.

Vaccine/testing mandates are soon a reality for many workers. I wonder just how many would give up their job instead – 5%, 2%, 1%?

And I gotta wonder why their isn’t a measurable level of natural immunity antibody that’s equivalent to the double Moderna dose and could be substituted for a vaccine card?

I’m told more people died of covid under Biden than Trump. How could that be when Trump’s vaccine was generally available since the beginning of the Biden Administration?

Its because the vaccine is a failure.

Noone vaxer will admit it. Look at the numbers in UK and Isreal.

When Isreal realized the vaccine efficacy “DURATION” sucked they initiated the boosters. These poor people are now at the mercy of possible Long term effects. These people are basically the trials.

Natural immunity its is 100 percent better than the vaccine. Definitely last way longer a better against future variations. I can’t say this is a fact but definitely a wining argument compared to the vaccine. Data is still coming.

I would’ve got the vaccine but soo glad I didn’t.

Today oil is: crude $83 a barrel, Brent is $85 a barrel. Nothing to do with Biden. OPEC and wall street speculators control the market. Capitalism at it’s finest. We are still exporting oil. Of course oil refiners will take advantage of the situation. Its all about the all mighty dollar.

What makes you say that?
I don’t see that information.
Did you look it up without sharing it?

When I looked it up, I shared it.

That information would be easily provided by the county.

One person could look it up, and include it with the case count so everyone wouldn’t have to.

I believe you.
You said that just in time, I was about to spill the beans that 511 people got tested in order for the 56 to be positive, for a positivity rate of 10.2%.
Averaged over the last seven days the average was 9.4%.

🤔🧐I earned you a dime, but I might have cost you one.😁.

Just my 2 cents.

Divide 56 by 511. Result is 0.1095…
Multiply by 100 for a percentage of 10.95…
So 11% when rounded to either nearest whole or tenth of a percentage.

Got it. I get 10.95589. So 11% . But which one is right the 11% or the 9.125%? Damn wish I’d paid more attention in math class

Just checking to see if you are paying attention…

No, really, that’s a fair question…

Looking back at my work…

I really screwed it up…

It’s because I wrote it

sloppy…

(I did it by hand),

And I did it backwards.

I started to get 9 point something… but when I wrote 504 under what sloppily became 571, my remainder ended up being 67…

When I sloppily wrote 511, it became 571.

If that wasn’t bad enough, I was supposed to divide
56 by 511, not 511 by 56, then convert to percent.

(Got my second Moderna on Saturday, I’m kinda dinged out still)

I like stars to the rescue,
with the correct formula…

Hat Tip.

But, 11% positivity is moving in the wrong direction, from 9.4% for the week…

(9.40% for the last 7 days is from the dashboard)

Why should I relish it? I didn’t even know you made a mistake. Stars is the one that did the math. I just thought you used a different method. Stars is the math wizard here. And I always use a calculator unless it’s add or subtract question. Even then it better be small numbers. Of course I can do some simple long division. Here is a picture of my old math teacher.

There are two ways to calculate positivity rate:

Method 1: Divide (A) the number of people who have tested positive by (B) the number of people who have been tested
Method 2: Divide (C) the number of positive tests by (D) the number of total tests
These two methods won’t produce the exact same numbers, depending on how many people get tested multiple times and how many people rack up multiple positive tests. But they’ll tell the same general story

Sorry, I wasn’t sure if you were being sarcastic or not, and rubbing in my mistake.
I recognized my mistake, and also that I got confused and messed up the equation.
Normally I use a calculator, but I tried to do it by hand, bad idea.
I tried to do a major edit to my post to correct my mistakes, and my snarkiness, but it didn’t correct the post.

Very funny, mlr.

Considering it happened to my wife as well, you might be right.

We both woke up after dose two, very disoriented, unsure of the day or time.

She has also had a screaming headache since, that won’t quit.

Of course, we both donated blood on Friday, the day before our second dose.

That might have added to the extreme fatigue.

That probably hasn’t been studied much.

They did advise us to wait a week before our second dose, but we didn’t want to put it off another week.

You want to make a joke about that, too?

Maybe you’ll rethink your sense of humor, if you, or someone you love, needs one of those transfusion.

We tried to do our part.

I know for a fact that I didn’t see you there, mlr.

‘mlr the giant squirrel in eureka’
shape shifting from emphasizing the importance of people getting vaccinated, into ridiculing those that do. Even the ones donating blood while in the process of vaccination.

A real class act.

Take a bow, mlr, well earned.

I feel a gelastic seizure coming on.

This may may have triggered it.

Should I report that to VAERS?

https://www.fda.gov/media/151733/download

please. 14, 2nd paragraph under the Nonclinical Pharmacology/Toxicology heading.

This fda document appears to state a material difference between the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine that has been available (BNT162b2) and the approved formulation (Comirnaty).

“COMIRNATY and BNT162b2 (V8) have identical amino
acid sequences of the encoded antigens but COMIRNATY includes the presence of
optimized codons to improve antigen expression.”

I have considered the claim that the approved vaccine and the vaccine that has been available from Pfizer-BioNTech were different some how ridiculous. In this same document the fda says that comirnaty and BNT162b2 were used “interchangeably”. In another document the fda says that they have “identical formulations”. In the above document they seem to say, explicitly, that they are slightly different.

Please, legion of fact checkers, explain to me what is meant by the sentence quoted above.

Where are all the thought police who normally chime in to disparage wrong think? Does this mean that this is a fact we can all agree on? Is the approved injection a modified formulation from what has been used under the EUA?

CNN Business) Some prominent conservative media figures on Monday dishonestly used the death of former US Secretary of State Colin Powell, who died of Covid-19 complications, to cast doubt on the effectiveness of the coronavirus vaccines.

While Powell was fully vaccinated, he was also battling multiple myeloma, a cancer that suppresses the immune system response, as well as Parkinson’s.

WASHINGTON — The death of storied general and statesman Colin Powell from complications related to COVID-19 should not lead to any concerns about the efficacy of the coronavirus vaccines, according to experts and government officials.
The fact remains that unvaccinated people are 11 times more likely to die than those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
“Please don’t let the death of an American icon become fodder for anti-vax forces that are putting untold millions in danger,” wrote Department of Health and Human Services adviser Ian Sams on Twitter. “Vaccines work. They prevent bad outcomes. They (like all vaccines) are not 100%, especially among older people with underlying/complicating health issues.”

Who’s morally outraged? When did i mention January 6th? CNN, Fox News, Bloomberg, they New York Times …. They all spin the facts. The trick is reading all of it and finding the truth somewhere in the middle .

Media platforms are more biased than they are straight up liars. Bias implies selectivity in reporting facts as opposed to lying which is more about the rejection of facts. The Bias comes from the fact that they are appealing to the audience who has a preference for certain types of stories. CNN’s audience has a left wing bias, whereas Fox New’s audience has a right wing bias.

This has always been the case with the media, there has never been such a thing as a non-biased media. Truth is contextual, it is often the summation of a bunch of perspectives, biases and most of all the product of the elimination of contradictions and non-essentials aka getting rid of the bullshit. There’s a common saying that there are three sides to a story: Your side, my side and the truth. That’s perhaps the best embodiment of what we’re talking about here.

Many Americans have been taught to expect the media to be truthful, because critical thinking has been devalued. Critical Thinking is supposed you to navigate through a world of biases and figure out truth from falsehood, but since that is no longer a requirement of citizenship, it’s something that is now outsourced to media people, as though it matches up with their business model.

“Insurrection” is an overly dramatic term to apply to a group of unarmed American protesters lead by a Buffalo hatted “shaman” diagnosed as a bipolar schizophrenic. Then again, he does believe he’s related to Jesus and Buddha so who knows the powers he might possess? The video inside the Capitol released by Capitol police under court order showed a crowd milling about taking videos with their phones and a couple broken windows. Hardly reason to use lethal force. January 6th Trespassers would be more accurate.

Your kidding right? I saw a policeman getting beat with a flag pole, people trying to take his gear. People spraying police with bear spray, journalists equipment stolen, broken, piled up. People stealing things. Maybe we are talking about 2 different insurrections. But your right insurrection is the wrong word. Riot by a bunch of dangerous dumbasses works better. The officer who did the shooting will carry that with him the rest of his life. But how was he to know what came next. He made a decision on what was happening at the time. Until you are in that situation you really don’t know the reason. I am sure he heard over his radio what was happening in other places.

The hunters are starting to get hunted.

All the degenerates and devolved pagans who planned and executed the worst crime In history must stand trial before international tribunals.

If convicted for crimes against humanity they should be executed by lethal injection with the covid-19 poison death shots.

The media, academia, politicians, and industry tyrants who lied and murdered millions should be brought to justice.

The Nazi-like physicians who “just followed orders” should be brought to justice.

Not vigilante justice but international tribunals.

What hasn’t been established is whether or not he had gotten a third dose, and whether or not that might have contributed to the outcome, either way.

How does that work?

If it was less than two weeks after his third dose, would he have been fully vaccinated?

Did he die of Covid19 because he hadn’t gotten his third dose, otherwise he might have lived?

Had he gotten his third dose, because he was old and immunocompromised, and still died from Covid19?

Wait! Oh no, did he get the J&J?

That would explain things…

No booster available, and the vaccine with lowest efficacy against infections, hospitalizations, and deaths…

He might have gotten a J&J vaccination as much as 10 months ago…

We will probably never know …

Disgusting and people should be ashamed of this fear train they jumped on.

Kids are being injured from maxines and we allowed Newsom and Bidens to make this call!

F Newsom and

“Let’s go Brendon”!!

Insanity !

I only hopped over here to see if Kym was going to report the CA protests… Maybe tommorow, Thanks

43 percent rating? What gives? Does that mean that 20 million regret voting for Joe already? Only getting started, lets get this circus fired up.

If you will hop back you will see the article. She really doesn’t need to post things on your time schedule.

This shit never ends. What happens in a few months when the jabs start wearing off and we are back to square one ? Perpetual boosters at the garberville farmers market?

Exactly mega, this vaccine “therapy” is a huge fail hence why Isreal rushed the booster out. So many red flags. Honestly I’m sad for the vaxers. [edit] Also it is not effective against delta. My natural immunity works alot better long term and that’s a fact.

Also thankyou to all the anti covid vaxers, Ss, lone, 4 trinity ( we miss you) got logic, prof , ullr, and all others keep up the good work let’s not continue to let these keyboard warriors try to bully us.

As if anything that is posted in these comments makes a difference. Now that cracks me up. Although I do miss 4 Trinity he brought a much different perspective to the comments. I usually didn’t agree with him, but he did make me re-think my opinions some times.
