Weaverville Community Forest Fuels Reduction
Press release from the Shasta-Trinity National Forest Service:
The Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Trinity River Management Unit, in partnership with the Watershed Research and Training Center (WRTC) has begun work on the. Contract crews have also reengaged in fuels management work within the WCF.
Goals of the project are to reduce the risk of wildfire to infrastructure, homes, and natural habitats. Additionally, firefighters are creating areas where they can more effectively engage and suppress wildfires with the intent of protecting communities and public. The masticated area in the picture below will be used as a control line during prescribed fire operations planned for this spring.
More information regarding future prescribed burning will be provided to local media outlets and will also be posted on https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/
