Oh, too bad I’m living down here in the Cesspool (LA), or I’d be showing up for this. I’m planning to move up there, where I’ll be able to be closer to nature, while still living in proper housing in town. So, while I’m here on this forum, I want to gauge some of the local attituded about people from LA moving up there where you are. Me, I don’t patronize McDonalds, Jack in the Box or Taco Bell. I don’t watch television, because I don’t own one; I don’t own a car, so I get around on public transportation. I volunteer in a community garden and crew aboard wooden square-rigged sailing ships. I like to think that it’s the LA scum that Northern Californians really have contempt for are the ones who bring their crass materialism with them, and who don’t want to get with what that part of the world is all about. But what about those Southern Californians who want to go up to a place such as Humboldt / Mendocino and get with the whole program of Ecotopia? Or are there some Northern Californians who hate a Southern Californian just because? And I’ll take my answer off the air.

I don’t know if the comments I just posted got, er, “edited” or if I just didn’t do it right. Anyway, what I wanted to say was that if I was living up there in Humboldt County, instead of down here in the Cesspool, then I’d be attending this event. But, what I really wanted to do here in this forum is to gauge some of the local sentiment about people from LA moving up there. I don’t patronize McDonalds, Jack in the Box or Taco Bell; I don’t watch television, because I don’t own one; I get around by public transportation because I don’t even own a car. I’m planning to move up there to play a part in that whole scene. I totally get resenting the influx of So Cal people who bring their crass materialism with them. But what if somebody from So Cal wants to come up there and get with the Ecotopian program? And I’ll take my answer off the air.

Sorry, the computer I used to post this comment was kind of screwy-louie. Honestly, the first time I posted it, it didn’t come up. Now I’m just embarrassed. This was another thing I’ll try to prevent from happening again.
