Mask argument?

It’s crazy that we need alcohol to put up with the sheer delusion that passes for sanity.

When I first landed in this area I looked up the crime rate in the area. I was shocked that it said Eureka had a higher crime rate than Compton. Now after being here a few years now I definitely belive it now. It’s sad really, this area is so beautiful, but has a long troubled history.

The question is, “Do you feel safer in Eureka or Compton?”
Statistics only matter so much. As Disraeli said: “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.”

Only time stats lie is when a leftist is explaining them. Numbers don’t lie and you are living “ your truth “ but not “The truth”.

Numbers don’t technically lie but they can sure be manipulated to support an agenda.

Twain attributed it to Disraeli. But Disraeli as the source is sketchy as well. It’s been credited to a number of folks in the 19th century, even the Duke of Wellington (who led some of the forces that defeated Napoleon.)

Compton’s violent crime rate is more than double that of Eureka. I assure you Eureka is far safer than Compton.
We have a lot of property crime that drives up our overall crime rate but someone vandalizing your fence of stealing from your car, while frustrating as hell, is not really a threat to your safety

As a high schooler in the Auburn area it was well known that Iowa Hill was the wild west town of the area. There were shootings and stabbings reported (or not) on a regular basis. They used to say for every mile traveled down Iowa Hill Rd. you went ten years back in time. It seems like Mckinleyville is becoming the new wild west town of Humboldt.

back in the day Macville was pretty wild too, The Lantern bar had nightly fights, wrestling matches and fights at Clam Beach Inn. Mostly bruises, black eyes, sore ribs and maybe a broken nose and cheek bone.

Yep. Not only do we have inflation at ridiculously high levels due to printing trillions of dollars out if thin air, they’ve also raised the price on fuels, which in turn, raises the cost on shipped goods. Thanks incompetent government! Maybe we should give you more money and control over our lives since you’re doing such a great job! 🤦

I know right, how could killing a domestic pipeline raise fuel prices in this country? How can you keep supporting rich white men and expect things to change? It’s not very woke of you. I voted for a woman, not this patriarchy garbage you keep perpetuating.

Well you can thank the ‘CARB’. (California Air Resources Board).
The CARB has pretty much unlimited power in their area.
There are no elected officials on the board. All appointed by the governor.

CARB has mandated that all California fuels come from just (2) refineries. California splits the extra fuel cost between high taxes and extra money for the oil conglomerates.

Fuel prices have always been high up here due to shipping costs. You can also blame wall street speculators who have driven oil prices to a new high. Hence higher costs to refiners which pass cost on to consumers. It all comes down to corporate greed. When Covid-19 shutdowns first started people were driving less. Now people are driving more. Its called supply and demand, and corporations take advantage of that. To blame President Biden? What does he and China have to do with it?

Don’t bother explaining why gas prices are the way they are, they will come back tomorrow and repeat the same bullshit because their news sources incessantly pound it into their heads.

Efox explained why gas prices are what they are. I also have said this. But you are hell bent on it being Bidens fault.
Who gives a flying fuck when it was over $5 bucks, you’re rich, remember? Since when did you come here concerned about other people’s pocketbooks?
Never.

I am rich but I do care about seniors on set incomes ,apparently you don’t, Biden said all along his green policy was to price fossil fuels as high as possible. It’s simple economics, we quit supplying our country will our own oil ,then what our the suppliers going to do when we are more dependent.

Average price per gallon of diesel is $3.29 in the USA.
Now explain to everyone here why Biden is to blame for Humboldt high gas prices.

Humboldt? National average was under 2 bucks a couple years ago, 7 years ago it was right where it is now. Now the million dollar question bud, how come it was at all time lows between 2017 -2020 , the answer is simple but I want to hear someone acknowledge it.

Umm you didn’t answer his question. Also I can remember when it was 25 cents a gallon. Who is to blame for that big increase?

Yeah I did, national average was under 2 bucks 2 years ago, which translates into 3.25 here. People are screaming about the current 3.29 average back east, just like I’m pissed about 5 bucks. Now that I’ve explained that ,how about answering my question ,why was fuel 1.50 cheaper from 2017 -2020 , but higher before that period and after? Let me guess ,it’s all the fuel corporations conspiracy, crack me up, Joe and Baracks green policies count on high fuel prices.

You see Biden killed a tar sands oil pipeline and that makes gasoline and diesel more expensive. (Sarcasm)

What does Biden have to do with it? Hello! I don’t know. Maybe canceling a major pipeline on his first day of office? Maybe stopped pretty much all domestic oil production? I mean we went from energy independent to total dependence in less than a year! All under Biden! Wake up!

In 2020, the United States exported about 8.50 MMb/d of petroleum to about 174 countries and 4 U.S. territories. Crude oil exports of about 3.21 MMb/d accounted for 38% of total U.S. gross petroleum exports in 2020  and remain high in 2021. How do you like them apples?

No understanding needed. The US exports oil that could be refined here. Simple as that. What about the quality of tar sand oil that people want to import here? Which is thicker and more acidic than conventional lite crude. You must think I just fell off the turnip truck.

As the report explains, tar sands oil is thicker and more acidic than lighter conventional crude, and this ups the likelihood that a pipeline carrying it will leak. Complicating matters, leaks can be difficult to detect. And when the oil does spill, it is far more detrimental to sensitive water resources.Dec 31, 20 So sorry President Joe Biden saved us from a possible environmental disaster.

Why is it then that Costco and /or Renners can routinely sell gas anywhere from 15 to 40 cents a gallon less than the rest of the cartel in Humboldt County? It all comes off the same barge.

Costco can sell gas at between 6 cents and 12 cents below the market price, according to research firm Trefis. It discounts gas in the hopes that people will fill up and then head over to its stores. Not sure about Renner. Volume perhaps?

Biden said in his last town hall meeting, only way to go green is to raise the price of fossil fuels, in other words ,price you out. California wants all diesel rigs on or off road to be electric asap, crack me up, million dollars for a charge station to be put in but got no where to get this surplus of electricity. Bring back nuclear power plants if you want to be green.

Anyone who has traveled knows that a couple of miles over some county line can chage gas prices. It is not corporate greed or transportation that makes that true. It is regulation.
