Prius’s are junk. They, along with the Tesla and other electric rigs, are what’s wrong with America. Death before Prius. If you buy a Prius or Tesla et all, you contribute to climate change and the evil CCP. Buy a gas or diesel rig made here, help the planet.

Kym, is the garbage above anything more than a personal insult? It seems some folks get edited with a much heavier hand than others.

Either way, stuber’s claims are baseless unscientific, misplaced nationalistic drivel.

The Prius is made in Japan not China.

The original electric car was made in Des Moines in 1890.
The electric car industry was destroyed by big oil way back when, just like how they bought up mass transit systems in the 30s and dismantled them to buttress the oil industry.

The only thing unamerican is an idea like his.

If it makes you feel better stars…
Kym removed my 1st comment in response to Stub…
but, I mostly went after character rather than content…
Though I was inspired by the usual false “logic” of the “content” stub offers, however empty it is.

Whatever you think of Elon Musk and Tesla, the Teslas are, by a large percentage built in the US. Tesla is opening a factory in Shanghai and one in Berlin, but Fremont, CA and other places like Nevada in the US are certainly in operation. Tesla is also opening one in Texas.

As for “American” cars, how many have their parts built in foreign countries, but assembled in the US?

Not all Prius’s are electric cars & they’re nowhere near $12k new. Gas & diesel help the plant re: stuber? I guess ignorance isn’t bliss. I’ve seen many vehicles burnt to a crisp in Humboldt & none are EV’s. You all need to take your medication & get some mental health therapy, the level of psychobabble is high.

All prius’s are hybrid EV/Gas cars.
No prius is full EV

I used to think electric cars were cool. But now I wonder. This isn’t about the Prius but it IS about electric cars spontaneously combusting.

“GM is advising some Chevrolet Bolt owners to not park their electric cars within 50 feet of other vehicles to reduce the risk of a potential fire spreading to other cars and trucks.”

Electric cars suffer from far more media exposure for fires, while they are actually far less likely to combust than an ICM vehicle.
Though ICM vehicles generally do not spontaneously combust while parked.

Newer safer chemistries are coming to market soon that will near eliminate much of this risk.

The Bolts suffer from a serious problem with LG manufactured cells. LG royally fkd up & has a full recall for their home backup batteries too.

I hear horror stories about how they get the lithium for the batteries. Pollution, child labor, etc. Who knows if it’s true BUT I DO remember the EV1. There was a great documentary I watched about the car. People loved them and they seemed reliable. What happened?

Mining lithium has much the same problems as any other hard rock mining method for any other mineral does.

But, some Lithium chemistries use very toxic rare earth metals, such as the Cadmium required for NMC batts.
NMC = Nickel Manganese Cadmium.

Cadmium in very small quantities is toxic to most any form of animal life amd accumulates in the food web.

The child and slave labor issues around battery mineral mining are almost exclusively because of cadmium…Congo, Bolivia, Philippines
Also considered a Conflict Mineral…as almost all of it comes from civil war zones…Congo…largest source of Cadmium in NMC manufacturing.

LFP – Lithium Iron Phosphate doesn’t have the toxicity or child/slave labor issues except that some companies make their batts in places w very questionable labor practices, like in CCP.

Haha. This wasn’t a random manufactures defect, or a EV/Hybrid shortcoming. This vehicles death was caused by a road flare dropped through an open window onto the seat.

Dude must have made someone pretty angry.
