Two Hospitalizations; Booster Information

Press release from the County of Humboldt:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) today recommended Pfizer booster doses for certain at-risk groups, following emergency use authorization by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier this week.

The CDC announced that it will align its guidance for Pfizer boosters with the FDA’s and recommend:

  • people 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster.
  • people aged 50–64 years with certain underlying medical conditions should receive a booster.
  • people aged 18–49 years with certain underlying medical conditions may receive a booster, based on their individual benefits and risks
  • people aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster, based on their individual benefits and risks.

The Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup completed its review of these recommendations today and signed off on the move.

Individuals are encouraged to speak with their primary care provider to determine if a booster is right for them. Booster doses for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have not been approved.

Learn more about CDC’s recommendations at cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/p0924-booster-recommendations-.html.

23 New Cases Reported; Case, Hospitalization Rates Remain High

Twenty-three new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Humboldt County today, bringing to 8,352 the total number of residents who have tested positive for the virus. Two hospitalizations have also been reported, including a person in their 60s and one over the age of 80.

The county has seen a slight improvement in the case and hospitalization rates, but local health officials caution that both metrics are still higher than at any point before August, the deadliest month of the pandemic.

Since the last weekly data update on Sept. 17, the county has recorded 254 new cases. Nine deaths have been reported during that same period; none of them were  fully vaccinated.

Of the twelve hospitalizations reported over the last week, only one represented a post-vaccination infection while 11 had not been vaccinated against COVID-19. Age ranges of reported hospitalizations are as follows:

  • 1 person in their 20s
  • 1 person in their 50s
  • 6 people in their 60s
  • 3 people in their 70s
  • 1 person over the age of 80.

The graph below depicts average weekly case rates in unvaccinated and fully vaccinated local residents.

Chart showing case rates (per 100K) since December 2020 with the unvaccinated case rate at 21, vaccinated at zero. Unvaccinated case rates climb to 29 in January, down as low as three in April, then up to 26 in mid-May, while vaccinated case rates never exceeded two. On June 15, when COVID restrictions were lifted, the unvaccinated case rate was 10 and vaccinated case rate was zero. Then by mid-July, cases for everyone began to climb. On August 7, a local mask mandate was put back into place requiring all individuals over the age of 2 to wear a facial covering in public indoor settings and crowded outdoor settings. The local case rate for unvaccinated people declined from a high of 81 residents per 100,000 to 46, while the case rate for fully vaccinated individuals has declined for a fifth consecutive week.

The seven-day average case rate is currently 26, meaning that for every 100,000 county residents, about 26 people have tested positive daily over the last seven days, though that rate varies considerably depending on vaccination status.

The seven-day average case rate for fully vaccinated individuals is 10 per 100,000 residents. The rate for unvaccinated people is more than four times higher at 46 per 100,000. View a more detailed depiction of the case rate graph.

Have you considered that some folks are aware that it is going to happen to them at some point and they are ok with that….. That they understand that this is the natural process of developing antibodies. I think your comment is naive to assume everyone lives in fear and rearranges their existence to avoid it. Some of us do not.

If you will wait you might be able to get them and your COVID-19 vax at your favorite fast food place. New Zealand officials are in talks with fast food brands like KFC and Taco Bell and Pizza Hut to offer customers Covid-19 vaccines while they wait in line for their meals in an effort to boost vaccination rates and avoid future lockdowns. I think it needs to be instituted here in the U.S.A. http://www.theguardian..com 9/22/21

And ?

COVID-19 vaccines do not change or interact with your DNA in any way. Both mRNA and viral vector COVID-19 vaccines deliver instructions (genetic material) to our cells to start building protection against the virus that causes COVID-19. However, the material never enters the nucleus of the cell, which is where our DNA is kept

ATLANTA—Urging Americans to reconsider their current precautions in light of the grim discovery, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention researchers warned Thursday of a new giant Covid-19 variant large enough to swallow a grown man whole. “This is a mammoth monster of a virus, big enough and strong enough to consume a full-sized adult male in one swift gulp,” said CDC director Rochelle Walensky, adding that the first confirmed victim of the A.7 SARS-CoV-2 variant was a man in El Paso, Texas of whom nothing was left but his shoes. http://www.theonion.com

Okay. Good for you. You’re so brave. Don’t think this disease is likely to get you? Probably right. Like a few other things though, that is not the point. It’s like a fire burning your house down- it will be unlikely to happen but fall out if it does is so bad that most people get insurance. But it’s a choice. Some of problems with that come with disease not- it doesn’t care whether you’ve decided to be brave.

I can do two things at once. If you think being vaccinated is important and are angry that unvaccinated illegal border crossings are facilitated by the government, I could agree.

However, if you are personally opposed to getting vaccinated and only bring up this issue because you think it exposes this administration to ridicule, then talking about vaccination is a red herring.

These current patterns reflect growing shares of vaccinations going to Hispanic and Black people over time. Between March 1 and September 20, the share of vaccinations going to Hispanic people increased in all states reporting data for both periods and increased for Black people in most reporting states. In a few cases, these increases were large. For example, the share of vaccinations going to Black people increased from 26% to 45% in DC and from 25% to 38% in Mississippi http://www.kff.org

Kym do we know how many of the people hospitalized were partially vaccinated? I read an article that said folks who were partially vaccinated were considered unvaccinated. I’m concerned because people are getting COVID from the vaccine, spreading COVID with the vaccine and dying sometimes, but the news reports seem to be indicating it’s a lack of vaccine that caused all this. I worry the vaccine is actually causing the spread to be worse, causing the variants, And that the numbers are misrepresenting the actual data.

Ex. My young son caught COVID from someone who got vaccinated. I didn’t get vaccinated and didn’t test positive for COVID even though I was undoubtedly exposed. I know it’s empirical but I don’t trust the number keepers intentions more than I trust firsthand experiences with not just me but many friends.

The word you’re looking for is not empirical. It’s anecdotal. Empirical means by observation and in science it also means in a controlled fashion. You did not “observe” who infected your son at all. Unless of course your son lives as a hermit and only met with one person in the last couple of months and you just happened see that person get vaccinated too.

At this point in the drama, vaccinated and unvaccinated may not mean what you think it does.
According to latest CDC guidelines, someone with one shot of a two-shot series is still considered unvaccinated, and with both shots also if still within 14 days of inoculation. Apparently, most of the major “adverse effects” that manifest happen to that category of individuals, even though they have actually had the needle in their arm.
And there is also a two-tier protocol between the vaxxed and unvaxxed for the rtPCR test, skewing the case counts as well. All right on the CDC website. It’s still a very suspicious numbers game.

None of that is accurate. There aren’t different protocols for testing but different uses for the same test.. The PCR test is run exactly the same, vaccinated or unvaccinated, to count positives. For the specific study of breakthrough infections, only the people from that positive pool who have a heavy viral load and are vaccinated are counted.

Local complaints, state investigation dogs COVID test company with two Sonoma County sites

More than 20 negative experiences relayed to the Press Democrat from consumers include everything from dubious sterilization protocols to hourslong lines to garbled login instructions on the company’s website.
But the most consistent complaints — and among the most serious — fall into three categories: contradictory rapid results; PCR test results that take weeks to arrive, or never arrive at all; and Medivolve’s insistence on performing all three of its available tests — rapid antigen, rapid antibody and PCR — on every visitor.

Types of COVID-19 testing

PCR tests detect the presence of specific genetic material and generally take several days for results.
Antigen tests detect active infection, and results can be made available in as little as 15 minutes.
Antibody tests detect whether there was a previous infection and results can be available in 24-48 hours.

Not so sure about that, Guest. Izzy may vary well be right, if this article is true;

https://undercurrents723949620.wordpress.com/2021/05/13/why-were-not-hearing-about-covid-vaccine-side-effects/

If you really want to go down the rabbit hole, check out this one. Note the author was vice-president and chief scientist of allergy and respiratory research at Pfizer.

http://totalhealthmatters.co.uk/a-massive-fraud-has-been-perpetrated-by-dr-michael-yeadon-phd/

Another strange article, reposted on americanthinker (I know; unreliable. I did write reposted) is this one;

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2021/09/why_do_doctors_go_along_with_covid_panic_porn_and_cdc_prescriptions.html

Reading each one of the above posted links takes time. Sometimes I have to read it twice, to understand it. I don’t want to live my life living in a rabbit hole, but these days, spending some time down there is necessary. Looking at the photos of the authors; they don’t look crazy, not like some of our politicians look. What’s the truth?

The real truth may be revealed by Israel, as someone wrote above. They are 97% vaccinated, and if something is wrong with the vaccines, we would find out from them, in time.

My real question is what do you expect someone to do that is on a medication that forbids getting any vaccine, due to the contraindications between the medicine and the vaccine?

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks for the advice, MA. FYI, not asking strangers here, and courage is not what I lack. Several I know, and more are posters that I have considered what they have writen, over the years, and have studied their suggestions, and have researched their links posted. Now, I’m trying to get people to wake up to the problems we have collectively, and not just use Kym’s site to vent their frustration (although sometimes that’s good for them), or attack other posters. As someone in the middle, politically, I get it from both sides. Not trying to be a troll. Tried that once, and found it to be non-productive. I prefer trying to find solutions; not create more problems. If you really don’t want to read my comments, then either don’t read them, or give me a thumb down. I would appreaciate your comment over the thumb down thing, as I always prefer to know what people are thinking.

As a person who is not allowed to get the vaccine, and someone who doesn’t trust politicians anyway (or the vaccine), I have already made up my mind. I will still read what anyone has to say (or write), consider it, and change my mind as I see fit.

Kym knows who I am, and she has only deleted a few of my comments, so maybe I’m on the right track.

Thanks again Kym. The idea of using your site for community dessimination of information worked for me during the Monument fire, and was a great help. We didn’t burn up, but it was close (fifty feet or so).

Didn’t catch (and release) any fish, but the’re here.

ANSA) – ROME, SEP 24 –

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said in an update report on COVID-19 on Thursday that Italy was currently among a group of nations where the risk of contagion is relatively low.
“As per 13 September, the EU/EEA countries with a stable trend include Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden,” the report said.
“In these countries, the overall probability of infection is assessed as low.
“Because of the low proportion of cases in elderly individuals, and the current low proportion of severe cases and low death notification rates, the impact of the disease is assessed as low.
“At this time, there is an overall low risk of COVID-19 for the general population and the healthcare system in these countries “Regarding vulnerable individuals (individuals with risk factors for severe COVID-19 disease, such as the elderly), since the impact of the disease in these groups is very high, the overall risk is moderate”. Fears of fuel panic-buying in UK as some petrol stations closeThere is no oil supply crisis, but a shortage of truck drivers to deliver fuel.

There is no oil supply crisis in the U.K., but a shortage of truck drivers to deliver fuel to some stations, with retailers bracing for mounting problems. “We are expecting the next few weeks to be really, really difficult,” BP’s head of U.K. retail Hanna Hofer told the government during a briefing last week, the Daily Mail reported.
The driver shortage has also been affecting other retail industries in Britain. Grocery chain Tesco warned the government that empty shelves at Christmas could lead to a vicious cycle of panic-buying. According to the Guardian, the company told a Cabinet office meeting it was short 800 drivers.
Tesco and other businesses have been asking the government for several months to make it easier to recruit workers from abroad. Many foreign drivers left the U.K. both because of the COVID-19 pandemic and due to post-Brexit uncertainty, according to industry representatives.
Shapps said on Friday that he’d “move heaven and earth” to resolve the driver shortage crisis, and that he was “absolutely not ruling anything out at all,” including opening a short-term skilled worker visa scheme. But he also insisted Brexit wasn’t causing the shortages.

It is unclear if Asante/Regence will allow non vac EMT, Funeral, Police, out of system physicians/medical, contractors of any type… on their hospital campus.

Staffing issues are reported in Eastern Oregon:
Malheur County commissioners declare emergency in response to vaccine mandates – OPB

Oregon Mandate date is Oct 18th

Federal mandate date is Dec 8th
Federal Contractors Must Be Vaccinated by Dec. 8
