[UPDATE Thursday] Shooting in Hydesville

At approximately 11:18 p.m., dispatch sent law enforcement responding Code 3 (lights and sirens on) after receiving a report of a shooting in Carlotta Hydesville near Murrish Market.

One witness reported seeing a victim on the ground.

One witness reports hearing seven shots and people yelling.

UPDATE 11:29 p.m.: One witness reports this is a possible drive by shooting in the 3100 block of Hwy 36.

UPDATE 12:36 p.m.: We believe that there was no victim. None was located.

UPDATE 9:12 a.m. Thursday: According to Samantha Karges, spokesperson for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, “This was not quite as reported. During an investigation into the incident, deputies determined that random shooting did occur from a vehicle, but into a vacant wood line in the area of the 3100 block of Highway 36. No victims or evidence of any injured parties was located. ”
