Friends of the Dunes Hosting ‘Wine by the Screen’ on October 2nd

This is a press release from Friends of the Dunes:

Let’s raise a glass to coastal conservation during Friends of the Dunes’ annual fundraiser, Wine by the Screen! Previously known as Wine by the Sea, this event has been reimagined so that supporters of coastal stewardship and education can enjoy music, art, and delicious local food and wine from the safety and comfort of their own homes.

Tune into the Friends of the Dunes’ website, YouTube Channel, or FaceBook page on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. for free entertainment, including a concert from the Spindrifters inside the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center, simultaneous paintings from artists Shawn Griggs and Jane Cipra, and exciting conservation and education updates from Friends of the Dunes staff and board.

Remember to pre-order a Pour and Restore Care Package and a gourmet dinner prepared by Brett Shuler for maximum enjoyment! For a donation made in advance, you can pick up local wine, cheese, chocolate, and other goodies in a limited edition tote bag on October 2 at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center. Choose between red or white wine, or add another bottle. For an additional donation, you can enjoy a delicious broiled salmon or tofu dinner prepared by Chef Brett Shuler. Dinners must be ordered by September 28, and Pour and Restore Care Packages must be purchased by October 1. To order a Pour and Restore Care Package or a Brett Shuler Catered Dinner, please visit our Square Site. Supplies are limited, and pre-order is required.

Then, on the big day (October 2), you can celebrate coastal conservation by sipping some wine and perusing our silent auction for new outdoor gear from Keen and HydroFlask, as well as staycation opportunities, experiences, and local artwork from Jim McVicker, Kathy O’Leary, Patricia Sennott, and Wine by the Screen’s performing painters. Auction items will be available to bid on from October 2 to October 9, 2021. A link to the auction will be made available on the Friends of the Dunes website on October 2.

For more information, please visit our website. Proceeds from this event will support Friends of the Dunes programs including free environmental education field trips for local schools and stewardship of rare coastal dune habitat.

A big thank you to all who donated to our silent auction, event sponsors, Brett Shuler Fine Catering, and all the wineries and local businesses that donated wine and goodies for our Pour and Restore Care Packages! All generous event sponsors, including participating wineries, are acknowledged on our website.

Friends of the Dunes is dedicated to conserving the natural diversity of coastal environments through community-supported education and stewardship programs. To learn more about our work, visit friendsoftheunes.org, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
