Dear Editor,

The 2nd Annual Eureka Elks Lodge #652 Blood Drive was held on September 8th. We had 38 donors participate and give the gift of life. We want to publicly thank them for helping make our drive a huge success. We also want to thank the following local media who advertised our blood drive:

Eureka Broadcasting, Bi-Coastal Media, Mad River Radio, Redwood News Television Stations, Lost Cost Outpost and North Coast Journal Online Calendars, Redheaded Blackbelt and The Times-Standard.

In 1950, The Elks Lodge and a group of local doctors joined forces to start the “Humboldt Del Norte Blood Bank”. It was incorporated in 1950 and this year The Northern California Community Blood Bank celebrated it’s 70th Anniversary. If you would like to be a donor, call 707-443-8004 for more information. There is always a need for blood, and your donation could help save a life.
