Arcata: ‘Serve the Community on the Public Safety Committee’

City of ArcataThe City of Arcata is currently seeking applicants for the Public Safety Committee. 

This Committee provides a platform for the community to come together to gain understanding of public safety concerns and recommend actions the City can take to improve the quality of life in Arcata. Important projects the Public Safety Committee will focus on this year include researching and making recommendations to the City Council on topics including police reform, crime reduction and crime prevention strategies based on community outreach. 

Applicants must live within Arcata city limits or live or work within the Arcata Planning Area to be considered for a volunteer seat on this committee, and those with interest, knowledge or experience in promoting a vibrant, safe and healthy community are encouraged to apply. In order to slow the spread of COVID-19, some committee meetings are currently being held via Zoom and others will be held in-person. 

Committee applications may be emailed to [email protected] or faxed to (707) 822-8018. Applications may also be dropped off in-person in the City Manager’s Office at Arcata City Hall, located at 736 F Street, between 9 AM and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Face coverings are required for all individuals when entering City Hall, regardless of vaccination status. Applications can also be dropped off in a sealed envelope labeled “City Manager’s Office,” at the City Hall water bill drop boxes, located in the City Hall parking lot off of 7th Street and in front of the USPS mailbox outside of City Hall.

Stabbings should be at the top of the list of concerns.

Would it be too dangerous to ask why everyone is unlikely to ever see anyone involved with City government in public?
