Fireball Seen Over the North Coast and Up to Washington State

About 11:33 p.m., multiple people reported seeing a fireball streaking across the skies from southeast to northwest–sightings stretched from the Bay Area to Washington State. (See reports here.)

A woman in Central Point Oregon wrote, “This was blindingly bright…[I] was watching a black and white cat about 70 feet away when it turned it’s face toward me and eye glow was intense, at same time over my left shoulder, super bright light made me look up. The size of the ball was about comparable to the size of a full moon, when seen high in the sky. It was white except around the edges were bright squiggley but defined red, blue and green lights. Thoroughly enjoyed the gift of seeing this!”

One woman posted on Humboldt County on Alert, a Facebook site, that she she saw the unusual object about 11:30 p.m. She wrote, “[I]t was so big the tail was about as thick as my pinky held up against the sky at arm’s length. Cool enough, right – but it was RAINBOW colored. Not kidding – blue, yellow, red, green etc!! (And I’ve never done drugs, I was sober, and my husband saw it too lol).”

We have to ask, as she did, if anyone else saw it.

She said it was “Literally a once in a lifetime sighting.”

Dang, we’re disappointed that we missed it. Let us know if you saw it.

Re, “(And I’ve never done drugs, I was sober, and my husband saw it too lol)”…

Reality is a cop out for people who can’t handle drugs.

Reality is the greatest drug ever, but few people experience it.

Years ago I saw a fire ball blaze across the sky in broad daylight. It had real flames flapping behind it. I thought it was an airliner going down and expected to hear about it. Turned out to be a meteor about the size of a “station wagon” that crashed into the ocean off San Diego.

I saw it too last night around 11:30. It was so bright white and very large with a tail. Never have witnessed anything quite like it in all my years in Fortuna.

Why do people feel the need to turn every single thing into some sort of controversial topic? What’s the point of your comment? Not get enough covid and vaccine talk on the hundreds of posts on this site about those topics?

Likely there’s a camera that saw it. Many observatories around the world participate in the AllSkyNetwork for catching fireballs.
3 in CA, closest one is in Chico https://www.nasa.gov/connect/chat/allsky.html
Chico observatory: http://jimstar11.com/AllSkyCam.html

I like this one: http://allskycam.com/
Global one: https://www.allskycams.com/network

There’s other networks but somebody has got to have video of it, and the Chico one is supposed to have a full color HD one already operating.
