Local Mullet Currently Ranks in Top 3 of National Championship
Press release from Jesse McKee:
To my dear Mullet Enthusiasts,
I am writing with a quick update on Mullet Mania and to say Thank You for your support!
As of yesterday, August 25th, I am ranked second in the race to the top of the USA Mullet Championship’s Men’s Open Division! And it’s not over yet… Voting is still open, and will stay open through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 29th. You can vote once a day, per email address (yes, you can use multiple emails), with ALL VOTING taking place at https://mulletchamp.com/. (Definitely click the link, if only to check out the impressive selection of mullets…)
It is a great honor to rep Humboldt County in this competition, and to be the only contestant from the State of California in the top 25.
If I place in the top three when voting wraps on Sunday night, I am committed to donating the prize money to Stop Soldier Suicide (https://stopsoldiersuicide.org), the organization that will also receive all of the entry fees for this countrywide mullet contest.
I am once again urging mullet maniacs in this community to get online, to vote and to propel me to the status of #1 before time runs out. I’m also challenging local businesses to match my prize money donation to Stop Soldier Suicide, if I do land in the top three when this thing ends!
Living the mullet life has come naturally for me because it looks rad and fits my natural heavy metal personna, it makes people feel good when they see me sporting this sensational style, and because I was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy in my early teens.
My mullet has become a way to transcend my disability — cultivating my mullet and essentially “peacocking” — enables me to rise above the day-to-day challenge of living with a degenerative disease. It makes my uniqueness positive rather than tragic, and that’s how I wanna live my life! So get out there and keep carpe diem’s!!
With four days left to win this thing, I can say that’s been a wild ride regardless of where I place in the end. Thanks again for your support.
You can follow the voting action on Instagram @mulletchampusa and on Facebook @ USA Mullet Championship. Voting and contest information is online at https://mulletchamp.com/.
Rock on y’all! Jesse McKee

Gosh, that’s real special…
Enjoy your moment in the sun.
Awesome hairdo!
Sorry you didn’t make it to the winner’s circle, Jesse. (You were robbed!) Keep on rocking that mullet and claiming all that life has to offer with both hands.
Go Jesse! ❤✔
You got my vote, but that is so SERIOUS competition.
Pretty popular in the midwest…
Kevin Pohalski looks like he’s going to be tough to beat. Good luck!
I don’t know whether to think that this is some serious business or more of a party…I guess it depends on whether you are looking at the front or the back!
Good luck Joe Dirt.
The web site says you can vote once a day per email address. Do it.
Go Jesse!
TIL ESPN 8 is a real thing. And, um, hope you get to #1 & also ya go Jesse ya go!
You got this Jessi!!
That’s a pretty fine looking man under that mullet! Love you!
Ken Hollis! That’s the mullet I remember from the post office. Awesome and thanks for the support friend!
PS I still have a cassette copy of “the clue“ and I’m very proud of it
We love the CLUE and Black Sands!
I did a search, nothing too extensive, and came up with Ken’s who are probably the wrong guy and other odd ball “suggestions” for CLUE and Black Sands.
So, is he a local musician? Are those old, local bands? Just seemed to be that kind of reference. Always looking for local music to promote. And by promote, I mean, pump through my sweet 6×9’s. Any leads? YouTube? Anyone, anyone?
Thanks.
Hi Ken! Great to see this great classic photo!
Great Mullet and fantastic voice!
You got my vote!
Sounds to me like he’s in the top 2. I’m voting for you every day Jesse.
Vote for this guy! He’s doing it 4 a great cause!
I don’t know Jesse, but I really like this story. Rock on Jesse!
Dang – that’s some serious party in the back
If you want your vote to count, be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page of contestant photos. First, of course, you will have entered your email address, then clicked on Jesse’s image. But the click alone doesn’t do it… you have to go to the bottom and hit the button that records your vote.
Just in case… because i almost navigated away after clicking on him, and it wouldn’t have counted as a vote.
I love this! Thanks for helping our Humboldt contestant represent!!
For sure! I had to click twice becuz of the “I’m not a robot” thing at the bottom
not bad but not even on the same level as riff raff…. million dollar mullet

Loving this thread and story, thanks for the reminder to vote again, three days I’ve remembered, good luck
I hope you and your super legit mullet make it back to first place Jesse!
There’s no reason that any of you couldn’t spend a few extra minutes inputting all of your friend’s emails so you can put in their vote….how many of your friends would vote for Jesse? Just vote for him for them ✅
Yeah, I’m sure a lot if commenters on here know how to do that. Not saying you, winner. Just saying.
Rock on, Jesse.
Now, if there was a contest for my beard . . . .
Also want to note, I’m sure you, Jesse, could use the prize money for your own disability, but to give it up for another cause . . . , very honorable way to say, “Thank You For Your Service”. That’s serious business. Party on.
Hell yeah, Jesse! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Voted! Goooo Jesse!!!!
voted!
Whoa! Thanks for the reminder. Just voted for the third (or fourth) time.
The news about Jesse’s Muscular Dystrophy makes him an even better person, and worthy candidate, IMO.
