Celebrating the delicious summer abundance of Humboldt County’s finest agricultural producers, A Taste of Summer’s Bounty will feature a Mediterranean inspired menu created by renowned local Chef Casandra Kelly (www.casandrakellycatering.com). The meal features key ingredients sourced directly from your local farmers’ market vendors and can be conveniently picked up by drive-through at the Bayside Community Hall.

You can enjoy all of this amazing luxury and celebration of local food knowing that your purchase of this Farmers’ Market To-Go, A Taste of Summer’s Bounty is a fundraiser for your favorite local non profit organization! The North Coast Growers Association is the local non-profit which operates all certified farmers’ markets in Humboldt County. The fundraiser and your support will contribute to the operational costs of market management and our nutrition incentive programs. With 10 farmers’ markets and multiple nutrition programs, NCGA staff and our farmers work tirelessly to feed the community. Your support to assist with the administrative costs associated with all of this great work is greatly appreciated.

August is the month of abundance here in Humboldt County and we are excited to showcase all of the incredible wide array of foods Humboldt has to effer! We give you this welcome opportunity to take a Sunday evening off from cooking and relax with those you love in the comfort of your home, or warm summer patio. If you have children going back for their first day of school the following Monday, this to-go meal will save you time and energy to focus on getting the kiddos ready for their big day. Tickets are $35 each with a discount for the purchase of 4 tickets for $120.

We all know and love the local farmers’ markets, but something unique about our local Humboldt County markets is the fact that all agricultural products are grown or raised in Humboldt County. Many farmers’ markets in California feature vendors from across the state. Our local agricultural producers are truly local and supporting local agriculture means you contribute to keeping the local food system strong and resilient. Having a robust local food system is a critical element of a strong local economy. Especially during times of crisis and food shortages, as we have experienced in recent years due to natural disasters and Covid-19, resiliency and availability of local food production is absolutely vital to our sustainability.
