Information from the Facebook page of Bureau of Land Management – California:

Backpackers planning a visit to the Lost Coast Trail within the King Range National Conservation Area may face unfavorable tidal conditions in August and September. When traversing the Impassible Zones along the Lost Coast Trail, visitors must always ensure that tides are receding and are below three feet in height.

On the following dates, tides will not be safe to pass during daylight hours:
August 4, 17, 18, 19, 30, 31.
September 1, 2, 3, 13, 14, 15, 16, 27, 28, 29, 30.

I predict there will be at least one rescue because someone will ignore the warning.

Yep theyll be like all the other fools who think they can be the master of nature.
“Im too strong, I can handle it”
The worst part is how much of our locally funded VFD and search&rescue has to do and how much that costs us.

I think we should start charging folks for help, maybe that will deter folks from being idiots like the ones at usal the other day.
Dont call for help from our limited resources if youre not gonna take the help.
Im so over the yuppie idiots who are used to the world revolving around them. Its not worth the tourism dollars to have these fools around.
If they get swept away because they didnt listen, they get swept away. No rescue.
At black sands ive told many families stay away from the shoreline, and have actually gotten rude responses. I finally told one parent cool then i wont call for help if i see your kids swept away. And yes please go in after them.bye bye

Yes to Yep. Perhaps they sign an insurance waiver, or pay a fee, like $500, refundable if not used.

All extremely important information for hiker’s. I really hope that people who plan on hiking the trail will heed this warning, and not become a rescue for the Coast Guard or a job for the coroner.

Our Tax money is wasted on much worse things. I seriously doubt the search and rescue budget for the entire country even makes up a decimal point of our 12 trillion-dollar budget this year… I would be willing to bet we sent more money to Pakistan for gender studies than is used for the search and rescue program of the entire North Coast…

Also, due to heavy skies, it is recommended that Americans entirely avoid the country of Somalia—until further notice.

This directive additionally extends to include refraining from discussion of current actions in Africa by the US military.
