[UPDATE 11:14 p.m.: Fire Contained] New Fire Start Northeast of Carlotta

Two tankers, an air attack, a dozer, and ground crews are responding to the Yager Fire, a new start just north of the Carlotta Grange in an area belonging to a logging company. A citizen reported seeing smoke and flames about 6 p.m.

The Incident Commander reported the fire is about a quarter acre at 6:15 p.m.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 6:24 p.m.: Firefighters are struggling to make access in the rugged area. Tanker 94 and 95 are over the fire now.

UPDATE 6:40 p.m.: The Incident Commander released Tanker 94 and 95. He says forward progress was stopped. He asked that most ground resources should continue though. Earlier he said that mop up would be extensive.

UPDATE 11:14 p.m.: The Incident Commander reports that the fire is contained.

At least redwoods don’t love being on fire as much as doug firs
