Rock slide is blocking the highway for emergency personnel. Spot fire on the North side.

With the south/Southwest winds tomorrow with the weather system and the fire established firmly over 299 north and the Road blocked, well, this is going to be incredibly hard to get control of. Prayers and Strength to those fighting for everything they have in Cedar Flat, Del Loma, Big Bar and Burnt Ranch and Big Flat after that.

It’ll burn until it rains.

Although I got word they stomped the spots on the North side.

Gosh, thanks for that Identifier.
I would have been wondering if the ATV rollover at Buck Creek on the coast
might have started a fire for a second, and Big Flat campground, on the coast was getting evacuated.

Now I just have to figure out if an evacuation warning for Big Flat, Trinity County, means the fire is getting closer to my family or not. I should have known it was in Trinity County right away, because it said Monument Fire first and foremost.
It looks good there. Really good.

Even if it’s not the Big Flat I’m familiar with, it led me to the right place, even when tired.

It’s late, and my mind plays tricks on me when I’m tired.

Thanks for the update, Kym.

Any news on the McFarland Fire? Thermal maps on LA Times seem to show it breaking up into three discreet fires moving north-west, east and south respectively. Its difficult to interpret but I have heard precious few updates from official sources so that’s all I have to go on.

@ Kym

It would be super duper to have a fire section like Covid.

It really is s lot to navigate when hurried and it’s all buried in between other headlines, sometimes over 10 a day.

Also, a US Cellular tower is having issues. I’m sure I’m not th he only one having to rely on unreliable hotspots just to get a message through.

If you are not hearing from friends or family, that may be why.

I’ve noticed that too, although my phone is working just fine in town. Signal seems fine, slow internet, especially when tethered.
