Facial Coverings To Be Required In All County Facilities

With the emergence of the more contagious Delta variant in California, which rapidly increased to over 80% of cases in California in the past weeks, the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are rising again throughout the state. This is especially true amongst those that remain unvaccinated. Despite ongoing outreach and improving COVID-19 vaccine access, as of late July, a significant proportion of Humboldt County residents are not yet fully vaccinated.
It is with all this in mind that universal masking in indoor public settings is now recommended again by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Humboldt County Public Health. Universal masking in public adds an extra precautionary measure for all to reduce the transmission of COVID-19, especially in communities currently seeing the highest transmission rates, such as ours. Changes in recommendations like these are not taken lightly but are necessary to protect the public, stop spread of the disease among the unvaccinated, and keep our institutions fully functioning.
The recent surge in cases in Humboldt County poses a real threat not only to our community, but also to the county’s own ability to provide vital services.
As such, beginning tomorrow, Friday, July 30 the county will be requiring all employees and members of the public to wear a mask while inside county facilities, even those who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This is a mandatory requirement, not a recommendation.
While masks can be a big help immediately, getting vaccinated is the real key to getting our community fully reopened safely and back to enjoying all the things we love to do in Humboldt County. We are now in the midst of a pandemic of the unvaccinated.

What kind of enforcement will anti mask Honsal be providing?
Well, maybe he will stop responding to overturned trucks, missing people, meth peddlers, drunks, domestic violence, and people that get themselves into crazy situations, …. and walk you personally everywhere you go so you don’t run into an unmasked person.
He can then arrest them and take you personally with him, so you can be sure they are jailed.

Oh crap! I give up… I’m going to a wear mask when someone asks me nicely, but when they tell that I’m going wear one whether I like it or not… I doubt that will get them anywhere.
What the hell do you expect people to do when the FDA (Federal Drug Administration) won’t give an approval for these shots. How many people trust anything that “Our Government” does for us anymore? I would tell you how I really feel but they probably put me on a no fly list.

So why do you think the county has called for all employees working from home to return to the office in August? The home offices have been very effective and are far safer than putting 400 social services workers back in one big building that has air forced throughout the whole building with old, rarely changed filters so that everyone is exposed to everyone, both staff and clients.
I would like to hear a report from DHHS Director Connie Beck why she thinks it is now safe to take this action to bring employees and clients back and just wear masks with the new variant being so much more destructive and contagious. Does she plan to take personal responsibility for those possible deaths caused by this seemingly unwise decision?
She/”they” are reading from a script to continue getting a paycheck – those who don’t need their paycheck all that much have left/are leaving. (CAO, Sheriff, HR, Auditor, many departments.) They’re oppressive environments to say the least.
The county simply does not care about the health of the workforce one bit.
