Press release from the Timber Heritage Association’s (THA):

Timber Heritage Association’s (THA) announces the popular crew car/speeder program will resume in Samoa this Saturday, July 24th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rides begin near the entrance to the Samoa Cook House making a round trip along the west side of scenic Humboldt Bay. Rides run approximately every half hour.

Donations for the ride: Adults $8.00, Seniors (62+) $7.00, Children 3-10 $4.00, and ages 2 and under ride for free on an adult’s lap. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

While at the Samoa shops, be sure to visit the 1893 buildings of the former Vance/Hammond Lumber Company, including the oldest wooden round house in the western U.S. Displays include historic logging equipment, locomotives (including “Big George” formerly in Sequoia Park), and other rail cars. Visits to the shops are free and THA volunteers are available to answer questions about the equipment and shops.

The THA trolley will be available for a photo opportunity, and possibly for rides, on Saturday. In addition, trolley rides will be offered at the Eureka Friday Night Market on August 6th and Arts Alive on August 7th.

Owing to government restrictions on public transportation, masks will be required of all riders. If you forget yours, THA volunteers will be happy to give you one.

THA looks forward to seeing you at this and other forthcoming speeder/crew car/trolley events. Additional details can be found on the THA website: www.timberheritage.org.

Timber Heritage Association’s mission is to preserve, interpret, and celebrate our timber heritage.

For tomorrow at the cookhouse, breakfast is french toast, sausage, eggs. Lunch is pork steaks.

I like the cookhouse but I have never been for breakfast. I also have never tried their pork steaks. Does anyone know if the eggs are good? How about the pork steaks?
