The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office with the help of a California Highway Patrol helicopter are investigating a suspected homicide that was reported about 1:45 a.m. in the 59000 block of Bell Springs Road near Laytonville. The first report from the scene by a citizen said the victim was shot and not breathing, according to a dispatcher speaking over the scanner. Mendocino County Sheriff’s Captain Greg Van Patten told us this morning by text that a deputy “fell and injured himself to the point he needs medical evacuation” while chasing suspects.

The CHP helicopter landed right beside Hwy 101 this morning.

Van Patten said that those being pursued were captured but the investigation is ongoing to determine whether they are suspects in the shooting.

A witness, Jacob Whitney tells us that the helicopter landed beside Hwy 101 but flew off about 7:50 a.m. He said, “[There are] All sorts of law enforcement vehicles down on the highway.”

How are those windshield wipers working these days. I told the other 3000 fbi agents about the windshield wipers. As the snake slowly wraps around its prey it is not noticed.

Was listening on the scanner last night from the very beginning. It took them almost two hours to get any emergency vehicle up to the property. It was honestly embarrassing listening to the deputy ask for directions to the property over and over. I could even hear in the dispatchers voice her frustration with the deputy. That man never had a chance to survive because it took them so long to arrive. Not to mention by the time the reporting party told them he stopped breathing from the time the initial call came in over 10 mins had passed. Lets also say that over a hour went by before another two officers cars passed my house going north to bell springs. Response time is terrible and if something like this happens to you don’t expect help..

Very true, a gateway drug, still…. Never known a junkie, speed freak or cokehead that didn’t smoke pot first….. Yeah it is a herb.

I’ve been smoking weed for about 25 years. Never once have I tried Coke, meth, heroin, fentanyl or any other drug stronger than magic mushrooms. Well I did try LSD a couple times, I’ll never do that s*** again.. blaming drugs for violence is like blaming soda pop for diabetes, salt for high blood pressure or firearms for murder. It’s lack of personal responsibility that is responsible for all of those issues. And the complacency of a society that rewards the lack of personal responsibility..

Well consumption of high amounts of sugar does lead to obesity, hypertension and diabetes. Eating large amount of salty foods does narrow your blood vessels and lead to hypertension while dehydrating you.
