At approximately 6:22 p.m., two vehicles (a Honda Ridgeline and a white Chevy Traverse) according to the first reports from the scene) crashed head on while traveling down Hwy 162 about 24 miles east of Hwy 101, just west of Covelo near Inspiration Point.

An air ambulance responded to the scene to assist with a five-year-old male with chest injuries. Another child may be injured and evaluation is needed.

Two air ambulances were initially requested, according to emergency personnel speaking over the scanner to dispatch. However, we were only able to see one respond. At approximately, 7:26 p.m., REACH 5 arrived on scene

One patient, against medical advice, refused to be taken in the ambulance.

Traffic is stopped in both directions.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Sorry to read that two young kids were injured. Thank God for Air Ambulance Service. I pray both kids will heal up just fine, and be as good as new again. I assume the adults were ok.
