29 New Cases; Some OptumServe Sites to Close, Testing to Continue in Eureka

COVID Vaccine coronavirusPress release from the County of Humboldt:

Twenty-nine new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Humboldt County today. The total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus now stands at 4,853.

The OptumServe testing service, contracted by the State of California, will close its mobile testing sites throughout the county at the end of July. COVID-19 testing will continue to be available seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at OptumServe’s fixed site at the Wharfinger Building, located at 1 Marina Way, in Eureka.

Testing for COVID-19 is also available through local health care providers and some pharmacies. Businesses, schools and community organizations that would like to access testing resources may apply through the State of California Testing Task Force. For information, visit testing.covid19.ca.gov/get-started/.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued a statement yesterday reporting increased risk of infection for unvaccinated individuals, noting that 99% of COVID-19 cases reported statewide between Jan. 1 and July 14, have occurred in unvaccinated individuals.

“As transmission continues to increase in communities statewide, along with the faster spreading Delta variant, more individuals, especially those who are unvaccinated, will likely get COVID. Vaccines continue to be highly effective at preventing new cases and severe disease, hospitalization and death,” according to the CDPH statement.

Vaccine is available at Public Health clinics and at most local pharmacies. Walk-ins are welcome at all Public Health clinics, or sign up in advance at MyTurn.ca.gov. See the clinic schedule for the next seven days below.

Adopt-a-Park Community Celebration (Mad River Pkwy. E)
Pfizer/Johnson & Johnson

Trinidad – Thursday, July 29, from noon to 3 p.m.

Because the majority of Humboldt was unvaccinated ,so cases would be mainly unvaccinated. Ridiculous data.

My guess is a typo and it is meant to say July 1 to July 14. Two weeks is a normal reporting period.

Covid outbreaks are just as common in vaccinated people! This should be obvious by now. Anyone who says differently is lying or trying to further an agenda.

Data from Israel has shown that under-16s were the primary spreader of the delta variant. They’re rushing to immunize kids to slow its spread. Remember, public health is about everyone.

Not if the vaccine is not approved, then it becomes selfish reasons caused by panic. I would never ask someone younger to risk their health so I could live longer. That is a selfish disgusting reason.

Except they’re not risking their health, since the vaccines are continually being shown to be quite safe, and safer than getting infected. Even if that weren’t the case, again, public health is about everyone. Sometimes public health involves making decisions that will harm some people to protect a greater number of other people. Fortunately, due to the vaccine’s excellent safety, they didn’t need to make any decisions like that.

No vaccine for the under 40 year old crowd is completely safe, that is not a lie that time has proven. The vaccine being completely safe for anyone younger is a lie, for purely selfish reasons. I don’t care if the majority of the population is over 50, I will not, would not and will strongly advise my kids and grandchildren not to take the vaccine just to protect me for my selfish reasons. If your afraid of the flu, shelter up! Bye.

Immunizing our dependent children with experimental mRNA is a crime against them.

Any “child” taken out by the corona it’s guaranteed was already dealing with health challenges. Use your brain.

If only some of the 21,000 employees at the CDC would.

From WSJ

A tremendous number of government and private policies affecting kids are based on one number: 335. That is how many children under 18 have died with a Covid diagnosis code in their record, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Yet the CDC, which has 21,000 employees, hasn’t researched each death to find out whether Covid caused it or if it involved a pre-existing medical condition.

Flimsy!

Do you have any ANY reliable says that confirm your statement? A you tube video from an anti vaxxer group is not confirmation. “Vaccine breakthrough cases occur in only a small percentage of vaccinated people. To date, no unexpected patterns have been identified in the case demographics or vaccine characteristics among people with reported vaccine breakthrough infections.” https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/health-departments/breakthrough-cases.html

It is still unvaccinated ending up in hospitals. So far the vaccine does offer protection against getting very sick that the unvaccinated don’t have. https://www.businessinsider.com/fully-vaccinated-people-not-immune-to-covid-milder-2021-7

All science (as opposed to crazy) continues to show that vaccinated people are much less likely to be infected, even with variants. Delta infects more vaccinated people than previous variants, but still not nearly as often as unvaccinated people.

Here is an interesting article on case counts adjusted for unvaccinated populations. While we are seeing enough breakthrough cases that I am concerned it is clear that the upward trend is significantly greater among unvaccinated populations.

Yeah, getting Covid and dying or living with long term after affects is nothing to fear.
Thanks to the unvaccinated and unmasking the numbers are climbing again.
97% of those being hospitalized with Covid are not vaccinated. [edit] you should actually be encouraging others to get vaccinated so you can hide in the herd immunity that hasn’t been achieved yet.
But no, you’d rather shame and taunt the very people that could save you from possibly dying.

I recently, this morning, came across this:

99.5% of new deaths are the unvaccinated.
97% of the new cases hospitalized are the unvaccinated.

You know it’s serious when the Governor of freaking Alabama says it’s all the unvaccinated peoples’ fault. Though I did morbidly laugh when she said normal people have gotten the vaccine. Alabama has the lowest vaccination rate, something like 33%. So is she saying that 2/3rds of her state isn’t normal?

Yep, normal people got the vaccine, and now fully 100% of those that got the vaccine are absolutely, positively, unequivocally, 100%, no longer normal!

I probably could have simplified that to,

The people that got the vaccine WERE normal, and then all of a sudden, they WEREN’T.

Or maybe it’s hard to believe an administration that’s serious about Covid would have let over a million people from 46 countries into this country and fly them for free to their desired location, without checking for any of the known diseases common in that location, let alone Delta.
I might add, making it as difficult as possible on the Border Patrol and ICE.
Add, people that screamed their bloody head off at the thought of kids in cages, who are now totally uninterested in what’s happening to them.

They sit back and dismiss the possibility that a rise in Border Covid cases could be connected to the influx of people crossing. NO, they shout it’s the unvaccinated, and they don’t mean the new influx of people.

Everyone should have empathy for immigrants. They should be treated with respect, and so should the American Public.

There’s a conspiracy for ya.

Everyone knew why Ellis Island was needed. Once upon a time.

Sure, Skitty, let’s have some fun…

We can parse this a couple different ways…

“Normal” people… In your mind…

They went from unvaccinated to being vaccinated.

By that metric, can we say that the getting the vaccines changed them?

Or did it make no difference?

And changed nothing?

And, so, if it made a difference, if they started out unvaccinated and were normal because they got vaccinated, are you saying they were normal before, and after vaccination?

Or only after?

And then they weren’t before?

Or only before?

Or are you trying to say, both, before and after El Jabbo, they’re normal?

🤔🧐If it’s only after vaccination that these people were deemed normal, then they must not have been normal before vaccination.

Otherwise unvaccinated people are perfectly normal.

Which would mean people who were not normal got the vaccine, and now somehow magically, they have become normal after the vaccine.

Or would it mean that people that were normal got the vaccine, and now, because it made no difference, they are still normal?

Then it makes no difference. Simple.

I’ll give you some time to think about those options.

Now, consider, that the vaccine does make a difference, as far as being normal or not.

That it somehow changes you.

You know, as far as being the same after it, as you were before it.

(Let me give you a hint,
you’re going to be
“different”, isn’t that the “point”?)

Consequently, if that is true, a normal person would get the jabs, and
would then be somehow a different person than he was before he got the jabs, Skitty.

He wouldn’t be normal anymore…

“New Normal”, or Nearly Normal”, Skitty, but no longer just plain old, “Normal”.

Well, not the same “normal” that he was, anyway, because, you know, getting the vaccines, as opposed to not getting the vaccine, is what makes you normal, right?

So anyone that got the vaccine, couldn’t have been normal before they got the vaccine, but they might have been “nearly
normal”.

And the vaccine completed them.

Nearly normal + jabs =
Normal???

Normal + 0 jabs = Normal.

Normal + 1 or 2 jabs =
Negative Normal.

It is not true to say…

Normal + 1 or 2 jabs,
Equals Normal

It IS true to say,

Normal + 1 or 2 jabs,

Is no longer Normal.

Normal is not to be confused with,

New Normal, or,

Nearly Normal.

Back in the 80’s and 90’s, everyone was terrified of getting AIDS. People were afraid to have sex at all, and they got tested before hooking up… Healthcare workers were terrified of dealing with HIV-Positive patients… I myself found myself challenged by a nurses son, an IV drug user/gay man straight out of the SF scene, who needed blood tests weekly while taking his antivirals, trying to save what was left of the wreckage of his life…

As far as I know, there is still no Vaccine for HIV, and, although treatments have improved, no real cure.

Now compare this to the present…

Last year, people were lining up to take a test, frightened as shit to think they had COVID! Many people were tested weekly, and, it’s my idea that some got tested far too often. The funniest part, is that some of those insanely frightened people, are the ones that now won’t take their vaccine…

IMO, PCR COVID testing is ridiculous, especially for the asymptomatic… COVID testing has been an overblown waste of resources designed to assuage the fears of the ignorant and scared citizens of the USA, who were initially frightened by the media, secondarily frightened by the stupid government, and the tertiarily panicked by the local responses, which were incompetent, incoherent and frankly, ridiculous…

It is well that we are ramping down the overzealous testing of everyone in general, and in fact, I never got tested until I decided to go to Hawaii in March, and got tested twice in 24 hours, once at the SF Airport, and again when arriving in Hawaii…

I got my vaccine in January, and I’m waiting for you to get yours. Fear gets us nowhere, and everyone should applaud the government’s efforts to stop wasting money.

Dear Government: Just hand out lolly-pops, tell everyone to take a deep breath, and assure them that everything will be fine, if they just get the vaccine…

And keep working on HIV, we still need that one!

Many if not most of those people lining up to be tested were concerned with whether they could have been spreading a deadly disease to others, or if someone they had contact with was, not just to guide their own healthcare. Evidence is that contact tracing works and slows spread.

Best evidence is that the vaccine works, and well. Contact tracing works for VD, but is a fantastic and intrusive waste of resources, and on the whole, a weak and stupid idea…

What are you basing your knowledge of why other people are getting vaccinated on?
I can believe you are concerned.
I can’t believe you have the knowledge of why others are getting vaxxed.
I suspect each person has their own motivation.

It amazes me how freely some people speak of the intentions of those they don’t know.
