Traffic Collision Car Accident Feature iconAbout 11:02 p.m., two vehicle crashed about five minutes up Thomas Road from Salmon Creek Road west of Miranda, according to the scanner. One vehicle is on its roof and the road is blocked.

According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page, the reporting person (one of the drivers of the vehicles in the crash) is staying with a woman who was injured in the crash. “She is not good,” the website states apparently quoting the driver who called 911.

The Emergency Communications Office dispatched Salmon Creek Fire, Miranda Fire, and Myers Flat Fire to the scene. Cal Fire is also requested. An ambulance was also sent to the scene.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.

UPDATE 11:39 p.m.: After emergency personnel arrived on scene, they reported that there is only one patient who had minor injuries.

UPDATE 12:31 a.m.: Salmon Creek and Miranda Fire were at the incident. As are the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, the CHP, and City Ambulance.

I just heard the siren and looked to see what is going on … Sending prayers. This road is so narrow and people drive it fast.

Kim thanks for the update! That is a huge relief that the injuries are Minor. A friend was almost run off the road up here the day before yesterday. She injured her wrist to get out of harms way . Please everyone remember you are not invincible and this road is not built to be driven fast.

Apologists for drunk or intoxicated drivers can be annoying. Best to say nothing, and besides a lawyer would advise against admitting anything.

We should definitely believe the account as described by the intoxicated driver.

Salmon creek, alder point, Briceland thorn rd , and honeydew road are very similar. The roads are in shit condition but its not the road that will wreck and kill you, it’s the people driving them. On all of those roads there’s people that do incredibly stupid shit every day and put others lives at risk. These above mentioned roads need more law enforcement routine patrols. They better bring a stack of ticket books with them though, you could write reckless endangerment and speeding tickets all day long every day on them

Glad she’s gonna be okay. Frankly I’m amazed there’s not more wrecks on salmon Creek Road, people drive like idiots out there. No worse than Briceland or Alder Point but it’s a one-lane road instead of two.
