Video Showing Illegal Cannabis Grows in Siskiyou County

Yesterday, Doug LaMalfa, Representative for California’s 1st Congressional District, posted the above video about issues found on illegal grow sites in Siskiyou County.

“Nothing about what is happening at the grow sites in Siskiyou county is legal,” he wrote. “Working together we have to fix this problem.”

He stated in the article that growers can get away with environmental damage that other professions cannot. “No normal person can get away with what they are getting away with here,” he said.

Victor Hanson, ladies and gents.

“Two million people are anticipated to cross the southern border, en masse and illegally, over a 12-month period. If that absurdity were to continue, we would be adding the equivalent of a major U.S. city every year. The new arrivals have three things in common: Their first act was to break U.S. law by entering the country. Their second was to break the law by residing here illegally. And their third will be to find false identification or other illegal means to continue breaking the law. One does not arrive as a guest in a foreign country and immediately violate the laws of his host—unless one holds those laws in contempt.”

There you go Ullr.

Applying your rationale below, restricting immigration creates the need for it, and we should not create black market immigration through Government practices.

If you worked a regular job you would or should understand the effect illegal immigration has on the average American wage. If you understood simple “supply and demand”. What I can’t understand is why democrats want minimum wage to go up but in the same breath they want to flood the job market with cheap labor! Without boarders we have no county.

The goal of a “liberal” Constitution was one that the representatives repeated often (if not always pursued). In a separate conversation on the issue of qualifications to serve in office, Benjamin Franklin noted that the “Constitution will be much read and attended to in Europe, and if it should betray a great partiality to the rich, it will not only hurt us in the esteem of the most liberal and enlightened men there, but discourage the common people from removing to this Country.”

It’s not like liberals are Constitution admirers in any way. In fact they tend to ridicule it as a slave owner, white privilege, out of date document. Likely if they managed to get their hands on a time machine, they would go back to destroy any chance of it getting written.

Yes, that happens.

It’s a damn shame so many false-patriots have tarnished history to the point that almost NOBODY can figure shit out.

Flag waving false-patriots who hate immigrants cite the founders as a reason to ignore gun violence, restrict honest education, restrict women choices, restrict voting rights and to not wear masks.

Quite literally they have already burned the Constitution here in the present day, no need for time machines.

It too bad that public education has left so many so ignorant of history at all. Or even current events that you think flag waving is any different than flag burning. The division comes from those who think Constitutional rights are optional and government is a good tool to impose change in public mores according to their own beliefs. In 100 years, any beliefs you so insist are right will have changed so much that you will be the the joke of liberals, if remembered at all, if they haven’t learned a longer perspective by then. Hate is the only inheritance left by haters.

Blaming this on Cartels and immigrants is ridiculous. And let’s face it, the alfalfa growers in Siskiyou County result in a lot more destruction to the environment than a few greenhouses. They are literally drying up spring-fed streams that used to support some of the largest fish runs in the world so that we can produce beef which is a huge waste of resources for very little protein production.

Sounds like you would be REAL upset if your neighbor was a black market alfalfa grower though.

I would be too.

Beyond Beef can use 99% less water for production than a typical cow.

They are delicious.

I’m a meat eater and haven’t bought real beef in well over a year.

In the past I spent a decade as a vegan, so I’m flexible.

Remember the save the water drink almond milk tropes? This latest bandwagon will turn out no different. Maybe some crops can grow on less water in ideal circumstances but in practice, mass producing them in places not native for them is very wasteful of water and really good at spreading disease and pollution. There simply is not enough “ideal” land for crop growing while there is an abundance of land suitable for grass in this country.

And plant based diets need a lot of artificial supplement to match the nutrients found in meat. Any creature who can’t manufacture their own B12 yet requires it to survive is on very shaky ground with “plant based” diets.

Besides anyone who raises animals knows that animals pee out almost 100% of what they drink, grass, which in most of the country is watered by rain on land not suitable for crops, intensive farming of legumes wastes a whole lot of water and, most important, in a drought, disaster or disease environment, animals continue to provide subsistence long after plants have shriveled into nothing. Humans survived so well by using animals to store summer’s bounty and return it as meat in the winter.

Agreed Sunset yet, are you a descendant from an immigrant? It’s interesting the people who scream the loudest about immigrants are descendants of immigrants who flooded the Country’s borders & committed the most heinous savagery on Native American land & forced others for free labor. The level of cognitive dissonance is high. Make up the rules as you go along, as long as it benefits you.

That put down is pretty up there on the cognitive dissonance scale itself. The user of that hackneyed idea first notes the horrible things that immigrants did to the earlier residents when Europeans flooded North America and imposed their culture on the natives yet somehow thinks that accusation will silence the current residents who fear the same thing. You would have if they were the recent immigrants or the next generation. If you bothered to look. Also acting as maids, ditch diggersnor any other job that came along until they accumulated enough themselves to want to hire the most recent source of cheap labor. Okies in 1929’s California or Italians in the 1900s out east or Irish in the 1860s or German’s in the early 1840s or Scots in the mid 1750s.

And would again if cheap labor was restricted and welfare was no longer worth more.

Maybe you should move the illegals onto your property if you think it’s such good idea. Move them into your house. Put the military on our border that’s what there for is protecting our country now go protect it.

Black Monday I (9 March)Crash

Prior to opening, the Dow Jones Industrial Average futures market experienced a 1,300-point drop based on the coronavirus and fall in the oil price described above, triggering a trading curb, or circuit breaker, that caused the futures market to suspend trading for 15 minutes.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_stock_market_crash

The money saved from pulling out in Feb was reinvested at lows after the crash, more than doubled over the last year, and doing dandy today.

You being the son of immigrants is fascinating. As someone who wasn’t even born in this Country, I’m curious to learn more.

Would you like to tell me how your economic theory that applies to pot doesn’t apply to anything else now, so we can learn something from you?

I am not the problem, I do none of the raping poisoning etc that you mention. Those things do occur and I agree they are hideous, but they happen precisely BECAUSE growing marijuana is against the law without “permits” which is PROHIBITION dressed up to look like a lawyer. As long as there are laws prohibiting growing plants, there will be people willing to break the laws because the laws controlling marijuana are what make it valuable. That is called “incentive”.

That is one convincing career politician. I live in siskiyou county and what’s going on out there is ugly but what’s even uglier is the police shooting a man 60 times in front of his wife and kids claiming that he pulled a gun on them. The Hmong people are protesting daily on the steps of our court house just to get the body camera footage released. I’ve lived here nearly all of my life and know first hand what the good old boy sherriff’s are capable of. If this was a justified use of force then release some supporting footage to show us . Hell they should be happy to do so just to show the citizens of our country and the hmong people what kind of a threat they were facing. Until then people will not believe that the country law enforcement is truly here to serve and protect our best interests. Our county has effectively demonized the hmong people here but don’t forget that they are humans made in God’s own image just like every person on earth. Again I don’t like what’s going on out there but as us citizens they deserve due process and to be treated with dignity and respect.

This alfalfa field was watering for a 2ond cut. Not sure what those guys are thinking…and still no moratoriums for water use in Siskiyou as far as I know…

Those people up in Siskiyou are weird man. Weird! It’s weed man, chill out. They are writing so many weird laws now because the boomers up there are afraid of weed. They’re also afraid of people with non-white skin. Do you literally have nothing better to worry about than people growing a smelly weed in desert scab land no one else wanted? They are paying people for water deliveries, not stealing water. Just another example of white boomers who got theirs standing in the way of other people trying to come up.
Maybe they should try to fix up their dilapidated drug-infested (real drugs, not weed) cities. There are literally no opportunities up there. Those families that were lucky and got farmland and water rights (stole from Native Americans that is) don’t want anything to change.
Yreka, the county seat, hey nice brown plastic chain link fence that runs the length of the town. It’s the same color as the closed down JC Penny from the ’70’s, the glory days of this place I’m sure. In fact, when I think Siskiyou I think old houses with brown carpet next to brown plastic fences down the street from brown box foreclosures. Great job up there, great job. It’s embarrassing. And on top of that, they show how corrupt they are by just writing arbitrary laws that primarily affect people of color. They stand in the way of property owners right to farm, though they proclaim they are a “right to farm” county, says it right on the county website.
Right to farm, that is unless you are growing weed outdoors. You know, the one that is recreational in CA and legal/and or medicinal in 37 other states, soon to be legal at the federal level.
Freaking old dumb boomers. Doesn’t it feel nice that daddy Doug got your back? What about all the water they’re shipping off via Crystal Geyser all over the world? But they’re worried about a few small farmers getting water? Hypocrites.
The times they are changing, weather you like it or not.
I can’t wait til more young people move up there and breath a little life into the place. People who want change. And to the cool ones already up there who just want to live and let live: Look up at Mt. Shasta and pray.

the county is to blame for allowing that dumb subdivision anyways.

and on the immigration points, if it was wrong for europeans to take this continent like we did, temporarily, from indigenous people, well then it follows that any new immigration must be wrong in the sense that its still “stolen Land”. Right?
i never understood that about the liberal worldview.
they want to feel bad about colonialism and all that, but then they say to the millions of new immigrants ” come on over! The native americans want to give their land to more people!”
“but whites are still the only colonialists and racists though”
the new slogan for global colonialism would have to be branded to fit the minds of weakling americans.

Here’s a fact nobody every talks about. 20 million illegal immigrants are estimated to live in the US. Most of them use fake or stolen social security numbers. Employers use those numbers to take money out of their paychecks.
Illegal immigrants do not file taxes, they would get caught and deported if they did.
The federal and state governments get to keep the money. Illegals pay taxes , billionaires? Not so much, but they can afford 25 million+ for an 11 minute flight.

What are your sources for this “fact”?

Tanuki is probably close to right. Even groups who support open immigration estimate there are about 12-14 million and that stat relies on the word of people taking surveys. Many illegals would not take a survey and avoid mentioning their immigration status to anyone. And it automatically excludes any with criminal activity. So that is likely a very serious undercount. Frankly there are a number of employers who know the illegal status of their workers. The worse case I’ve personally seen was a company where 2/3rds of employees turned out to be using fraudulent social security numbers and that investigation led to 65 other people in various places in California using the same social security number of a 5 year old child of a person working there who was born here and had a valid social security card.

Seems like ya’ll need real illicit growers. Who don’t damage the environment, build needless hoops or use chemicals. Much better herb your citizens will appreciate it. It’s what the people want and who are you to deny the people of properly grown herb.

I’m not sure how this became a racial topic right off the bat. With the exception of “cartels” and “Chinese labels”, no specific race, or group of people, were said to be responsible.

0:54 “…and, the whole concept of what’s going on with cartels, and the legality…”
He did not specifically say they were involved in this. Maybe elsewhere, or another press release, but not here.

1:08 “… and chemicals that are coming from who knows where with Chinese, uh, labels on the, on the containers. Stuff normal farmers could never get…”
Again, no responsibility.

2:13 “…you know, the sheriff’s deputies, they, they have to come out and cut one plant at a time and haul it off and put it in a pile. Is it really healthy for them to be going into rooms, some, some of these other rooms that have had chemicals spilled and such and the, the, the, smell coming out of there? So, one at a time, put it in a pile…”

Years back, when I did landscaping labor, if I had complained about the toxic air, they would’ve told me to rip off the plastic sheathing to air it out. I would’ve been told, think about it numbskull, it’s coming down anyway. Then the foreman would’ve said, quit milkin’ it, cut a few, throw at least 4 or 5 over your shoulder and carry ’em out. Or, better yet, lay down a burlap tarp, cut a bunch, put ’em on the tarp and drag ’em all out.

It’s THAT penny-ante, milking the job, stuff that needs to be defunded. One at a time! Sheesh. Go back to your AC office. Be sure to cut a handful yourself while you’re standing there and drag them off when you leave. You can even get it on camera, like you’re doing something.

Lol this is great entertainment. I do hope they use American made dozers to destroy these Chinese cartel grows. It only seems reasonable. Although I do think it runs the risk of ruining their job security of picking off just enough grows each year to keep prices/incentives high enough. Great strong good old boy rhetoric none the less!
