[UPDATE 4:59 p.m.: Reopened] Northbound Hwy 101 Closed South of Hopland Due to Fire

A fire which started from a Nissan Altima pulling into the grass south of Hopland near the Green Bridge over the Russian River closed northbound Hwy 101 about 4:15 p.m. (The car may have been on fire when it pulled over about 3:46 p.m. That detail is unclear at this time.)Firefighters, law enforcement, and Caltrans at the scene. A CHP officer breathalyzed and handcuffed the driver. Reportedly, the glove compartment was full of cannabis.

This happens all the time (cars on dry grass setting fires). Glad no one was hurt.

Why did they search the vehicle? Is cannabis in the glove compartment a big deal?

This guy looks alright to me. Leave him alone.

Glove compartment full of weed you say???? So like a quarter ounce? Maybe two? An ounce wouldn’t even fit in my glove compartment. Sounds legit. Dude had a bad day and ran low on oil. Sounds like we should lock him up and throw away the key! Gimme a break! Hey piggies go bust a winery for diverting water from the Russian River right now. Do something that actually helps the community instead of trolling a guy who just lost his car and didn’t set the world on fire.
