Trinity County Warns of Variant COVID-19 Strains; Urges Vaccination
Press release from Trinity County Health and Human Services:
County Health Officials throughout California are monitoring variant strains of SARS-CoV-2 and have growing concerns regarding the increased transmissibility and virulence of some coronavirus variants, in particular among unvaccinated persons.
Emerging variants of SARS-CoV-2 that harbor genome mutations that may impact transmission, virulence, and immunity have been designated “variants of concern” (VOCs). VOCs circulating in California can be found on the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) website at: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/COVID-Variants.aspx
Trinity County Public Health Branch (TCPHB) is coordinating with CDPH, healthcare providers, and laboratories to ensure Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) of positive cases in Trinity County. TCPHB will be sharing information regarding VOCs that have been identified in Trinity County.
We want to encourage all Trinity County residents that are not vaccinated to obtain vaccination. According to the CDC, available evidence suggests the currently authorized mRNA COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna) provide protection against a variety of VOCs, including those that are highly virulent. Other vaccines show reduced efficacy but may still protect against severe disease. Evidence also indicates that people fully vaccinated with an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna) are less likely to have asymptomatic infection or to transmit SARS-CoV-2 to others.

The data from sf was reported on cnn last night AND it’s disturbing twice as many people died of overdose during the COVID holidays than died from COVID 19. If we face another pandemic ,the local government should probably not offer drugs and hotels to addicts again.
