Prescribed Burning in Orleans and on the Salmon This Thursday and Friday June 24th and 25th

Prescribed burn in Orleans and on the Salmon this Thursday and Friday June 24th and 25thPress release from Orleans/Somes Bar Fire Safe Council and Mid Klamath Watershed Council:

Klamath Prescribed Fire Training Exchange (TREX) partners will be implementing prescribed burns, weather permitting, at Tishanik in Orleans this Thursday afternoon/evening, and at Butler Creek on the lower Salmon River on Friday afternoon/evening. We will have multiple organizations and extensive resources on hand, including contingency resources, to ensure these burns achieve their intended effects. Please spread the word to neighbors and friends who may see the smoke from their homes or on the road. Here are some pics from last Friday’s burn at Tishanik. We are seeing very good effects in the grass/shrub vegetation types, and despite variable winds, red flag warnings, high temps, and low humidities, are seeing good burn windows nearly every day.

Supposed to be a heatwave this weekend, 100°F to 108°F.
During a drought.
Seems risky. WTF?
