The Ferndale Garden Club installed a new bench in front of the Post Office on Main Street, Ferndale on Monday June 21, 2021.

Present at the installation were Town Garden Chairman and club Vice President Mary Enos-Lenardo, Garden Club member Kerry Chartkoff and club President Ellin Beltz who built and painted the bench.

Coming soon are new flowerpots to complete the decor in front of the newly repainted Post Office Building, “Doe’s Hall” built in 1888 at 536 Main Street.

The Ferndale Garden Club, founded on March 9, 1938, is the second-oldest service club in Ferndale after the Village Club (1906).  The Garden Club maintains the Town Gardens (City Hall, Post Office, Shirley’s Pocket Park, Fireman’s Park, and the Veteran’s Hall Blue Star Memorial Garden.  The club pays for the Junior Plant Awards at the Humboldt County Fair and awards annual scholarships for Ferndale High School Graduates and College of the Redwoods students.  Membership costs $15.00 year and donations are always gratefully accepted at P.O. Box 464, Ferndale, CA 95536.

Oh, I’m so happy! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👏👏👏

I spent so much time on the old wine barrels that were there. Unfortunately, when I moved from Ferndale 3 years ago, I was told that the flowers and the bench were abandoned.

Now that the pandemic is waning hopefully, Ferndale will get many, more tourists, and they will see how Ferndale cares, and it’s a show of pride too!
