[UPDATE 12 p.m.] Death Investigation in Garberville This Morning

Two deputies are in a taped off area of the roundabout at the south end of Garberville guarding what appears to be a body covered by a yellow tarp.
We’ve requested information on the incident from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department and will update when we get more information.

UPDATE 12 p.m.: According to Samantha Karges, spokesperson for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, “This case appears to be a suicide…At approximately 6 a.m. today, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a deceased individual lying in a field near the 900 block of Redwood Drive in Garberville. Deputies arrived on scene and located a 36-year-old man with what appears to a be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
She explained, “The man was reported missing from a Garberville residence earlier this morning after making suicidal statements…This case is still under investigation. Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of all next-of-kin.”

I agree with others who defend the photos. This is a sad story, but a tarp is not a body.
It’s nice to see Kym not taking troll bait from the commenters who are just trying to get a reaction out of someone. There should be a name for these snowflake/trolls.
Honestly surprised kym didn’t post a picture showing the man like she did of the stabbing victim who happened to be a friend of mine, I’ve come to believe Kym is utterly heartless and will be seeing a lawsuit soon.
Sad to hear of your friend’s demise.
But thankfully belief doesn’t equal critical thought, facts, or truth.
I “think”, based on a plethora of repeated & observable evidence, that Kym cares deeply about these rural communities and the need for the inhabitants of them to be informed with unadulterated reporting.

To the family of this tragic person, please know you are in my thoughts. I have read he was threatening suicide as he left. Please listen to me! Its not your fault you didn’t stop it. I was in a similar situation with my husband and he threatened but being at work I couldn’t stop it. I blamed myself with no mercy. It is truly a bad place to be. I went to counseling and learned if someone is going to do it …they will and its not a loved ones fault. It was the best thing I did. I thought I was OK but 2 weeks later I fell apart. Your life will be upside down but life will get better, so know that ! Keep good people around you. You will get through this.
Second that. There is no blame. It is the person’s choice. Sorry for your loss.
