Locals Extinguish a Small Fire that Flared Up in Covelo

Reports of a fire in Covelo began at approximately 12:55 p.m. indicating it was burning behind Keith’s Market near 76000 Block of Highway 162.

The Incident Commander described the fire as a 20’x20′ spot that had been contained by locals.

A local told us the fire was started when someone was cutting hay.

Seems to me that it wasn’t long ago when hardly a sniff of weed was seen in round valley proper.
Were bud miners pulling tarp in plain view back then and I didn’t see it?
Well, I haven’t been there in 15 years, but didn’t seem like much of a narco-town back then.
