Hit and Run Reportedly May Have Damaged Phone Service for Myers Flat Area
According to a dispatcher speaking over the scanner, a California Highway Patrol Officer reported that a vehicle hit phone utility box at the Myers Flat southbound exit from Hwy 101.
It is possible that landlines may no longer work there.
The vehicle fled the scene.

I live in Myers Flat. My phone works.
That exit ramp is notoriously bad.
It’s my exit, too. Funny thing about that exit! If you follow speed directives, it’s not a bad exit at all.
And yet…..folks come flying off 101 and hit that bank several times a year.
I waged a long campaign to change the signage on MF northbound off ramp. CALTRANS finally listened and only a couple of people have gone off road there since. There used to be trees, but every one of them was hit over the years.
Both exits at that interchange are pretty bad in that you need to slow down quickly and turn. I don’t use the southbound on ramp, but the northbound one is tricky. Due to the curves and length of the on ramp it is hard to get up to speed. The merge is also on the inside of a turn, so the view angle is poor for the merging driver.
Bunches of tourists on the Avenue now. Remember many of them are blown away by the giant trees and aren’t thinking clearly. Some folks (even a few locals) are also under the influence. Be careful.
