Alleged Threats, High Speed Chase, Illegal Marijuana, Spreading Fire…What a Crazy Story told by Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department!

We know it’s out of our area but…honestly, doesn’t it sound like the Emerald Triangle…?

In the Crazy Story CategoryFacebook post from the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department:

On 06/14/2021, at about 10:19am, Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Deputies were dispatched to the area of the Mayten Store off of County Road A-12 for a report of a white, shirtless man in a Subaru with a rifle threatening to kill people. Multiple SCSO Deputies arrived and began checking the area for the man.

Because Big Springs Elementary was in session at the time, SCSO Deputies requested the school go on lockdown due to the possibility of an armed man in the area. SCSO Deputies staged near Big Springs Elementary to provide security for the school.

An SCSO Deputy contacted the reporting party who said the shirtless man pointed a rifle at him, made statements he wanted to kill people, and also punched the reporting party’s vehicle. The reporting party did not want to provide any additional information.

After the conversation, a man matching the same physical description drove past the investigating deputy in a Mercedes. The man made eye contact with the deputy and accelerated eastbound on County Road A-12 at a high-rate of speed. The deputy followed the evading Mercedes and attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle. The Mercedes refused to pull over, and the deputy initiated a pursuit. The pursuit ended with the Mercedes driving through a barbed wire fence and crashing inside an illegal cannabis cultivation site off of Placone Drive in the Mt. Shasta Vista Subdivision area. The driver fled from the scene as the vehicle caught fire and flames spread to nearby vegetation. The deputies requested fire personnel respond to the scene, and deputies used fire extinguishers to suppress the spreading fire.

The parcel where the vehicle crashed had an active illegal marijuana grow. A search warrant was written and executed at the location, and 713 marijuana plants were eradicated from the location.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Lake Shastina Police Department, California Highway Patrol, CAL FIRE Prevention Officers, and numerous firefighters and emergency responders for their assistance.

This is an ongoing investigation, and we are asking for your assistance in identifying and locating the driver of the Mercedes. Please contact the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office if you have information: 530-841-2900.

A lousy 700 plants? wow, that’s a retro garden! Have to wear bell-bottoms when cultivating. Hot tub time machine. Must be a Republican; too busy taking America down to run a respectable operation.

The republicans are taking America down? How are they doing that?

Instead of pursuing the armed shirtless man who had presumably threatened the caller, SCSO took time to do this:
“A search warrant was written and executed at the location” where the armed shirtless man crashed his car because someone else was growing less than 1000 Marijuana plants. Does this make sense?
And doesn’t a judge have to sign off on a search warrant or am I hopelessly out of date?

At that point they were obligated to suppress the fire. Seems obvious.

How did writing and executing a search warrant help suppress the fire? Their priorities seem off.

You all do understand that the deputy in pursuit didn’t sit down, while watching a wildfire grow, and write a warrant request to a judge, right?

There are several officers within the SCSO or any SO, such as detectives, other deputies, sergeants, lieutenants, captains, under sheriff, and the sheriff that are available for such needs when it arises.

Come on ya’ll

Cops don’t fight fires. They fight over donuts.

Straight outta Humboldt.

When located, the man will most certainly be found to be a Eurekan.

This would support the assertions of Farce and Legal Lettuce regarding the widespread nature of the traditional market — randomly crash a car and it ends up … in a traditional grow. ROFLAO

An armed, shirtless white man in a Subaru is very emerald triangle. It kind of sounds like your proud of extremely ghetto behavior being indicative of the triangle.

OH! Thank you for the good old style slapstick comedy. I haven’t laughed like that in a while! Reminded me of a couple of Garrison Keillor monologues from days gone by. A regular Rube Goldberg of events.
Sorry about the fear it may have caused the kids (school staff, parents) and also for an illegal grower who may have a hard time paying property taxes this year (hey, man! You planted too near the road!), and curious to find out who is missing a Mercedes, because I’ll bet the Subaru actually belonged to the shirtless crazy.
Regardless of where the guy came from, he’s a local somewhere . And a loco everywhere.
But it seems that the Lost Coast isn’t the only place where folks are going crazy…

Was there a license plate? Really the most pertinent info I would want was left out of this article.

Where’s the Subaru? And whose Mercedes was he in? (no information on stolen vehicles). And, final question, why did the reporting party “not want to provide any additional information”? It is too crazy to make up. Good thing the suspect wasn’t Hmong, or all the sheriffs in Siskiyou would’ve chased him Smokey and the Bandit style…

Kym,
Is understood that East county Siskiyou is out of your traditional coverage area, as it’s quite far away.
But I do hope that West county Siskiyou, so near to NE Humb would still often be included in your area of coverage. Say Salmon River to Happy Camp ish area? Idk. What say you?

Thanks for your hard work.
And the entertaining look out to the east.

Hope they find him before he hurts someone else besides himself.

It’s true, there is little to no coverage of local Siskiyou issues anywhere.

The pot farms (as I understand it), are mostly run by Asian (Hmong) types.

Water is a huge concern and farmers are selling water to the dope growers…and wells are going dry to the surrounding parcels. And everywhere else…

I appreciate whatev Kym covers over here…and wish I could help.

Shasta vista subdivision was almost entirely bought up by asian growers out of Minnesota and Michigan in the last 10 years.
Online title searches bear all this out, and it’s easy to see who the new cowboys in town are.
10 years ago, nobody would buy those garbage 2 acre parcels in the desert..
now they truck in water and you can’t hardly get propane in Shasta valley without having to wait behind the extended family spectacle.
These bud mining parcels are even less desirable than the pines dope ghetto, or the Rancho dope ghetto.
I wonder what this crackpot with the gun was doing out there?
Either connected to the trade, or some local nut starting beef with the strange new people who come every spring…🥱

Please biden, just legalize it and put all these bud pimps out of business💘

Hmong were Vietnam War combat vets who were invited to the USA for their service. They have the same right to buy land, or water, that you do. Farmers can pump without limitation, so how is it illegal for them to sell. If you have to ask permission, you’re not free.

Biden is already shying away from legalization, didn’t put sales in his DC budget even though possession is legal there now.

The Federal Gov is not the same as the DC gov.
The Federal Gov District is not the same jurisdiction as the City of DC.
DC has it’s own Mayor & Police that enforce the law.
It’s own city council that legislate the ordinances and codes.
And it’s own courts that interpret the laws and operate like county & state courts.
DC is a city like all other cities in the US except it’s not part of a state, so no state law.

The Fed gov had nothing to do w canna legalization in DC.
Except to make attempts, with some success, at stopping it.

Biden doesn’t make the budget for DC.

We don’t see Biden springing into action for legalization, do we? The Feds review and approve the DC budget, and there’s nothing in it for marijuana sales. So we can say that Biden ratifies that absence.

It looks like Just Plain Joe inherited a weakling gene from Obama.

Biden review and approves the Washington DC budget. It had nothing in it about legalized sales. It’s safe to say that Biden has ratified that position.

Unfortunately, Just Plain Joe seems to have inherited Obama’s weakling gene.

Don’t count on Joe Biden for federal legalization.
