82-Year-Old Pedestrian Received Major Injuries in Weaverville Collision Wednesday

CHPPress release from CHP Trinity River:

On 06/09/2021 at approximately 5:30 PM, SR-299 at SR-3 in downtown Weaverville was closed temporarily after a solo vehicle collided into a pedestrian. [Elizabeth Riley, age 69] was turning left onto SR-299 eastbound from southbound SR-3 and didn’t observe [Barbara Bailey, age 82] walking in the crosswalk. Bailey was struck by the Honda and suffered major injuries. Bailey was then transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash.

Thank God Ms. Bailey was not killed. Please drive careful through Weaverville, and other towns. You never know if someone is going to step out in front of you without looking, and please watch for folks in the cross walks. Their lives depend on you. There is no excuse for hitting her!
