115 Pounds of Bud, Over 3700 Live Marijuana Plants Found in Potter Valley Grow, Says Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office

This is a press release from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Mendocino Sheriff MarijuanaOn 06-02-2021, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team began conducting an investigation into an unlawful marijuana/cannabis cultivation operation in the 9000 block of West Side Road in Potter Valley, California.

It should be noted, this was the same location where the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant in August 2020, for an unlawful marijuana/cannabis operation where several thousand marijuana/cannabis plants were illegally cultivated and ultimately eradicated.

During the course of the most recent investigation, law enforcement officials observed several plastic style hoop houses on the property that contained growing marijuana/cannabis.

The investigation revealed this property was not legally licensed/permitted to cultivate marijuana/cannabis to this scale.

Based on the aforementioned information, an affidavit in support of a search warrant was authored for the property.  The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team with the assistance of the Mendocino Major Crimes Task Force served the search warrant on the property on 06-02-2021.

Upon service of the search warrant, four Hispanic males fled the property on foot and were not captured.

Three Hispanic females were located within a marijuana/cannabis “trimming room”.  One of the females was later determined to be a sixteen year-old minor who was later released to Child Protective Services.

A total of 3,741 marijuana/cannabis plants were eradicated and destroyed.  In addition to the marijuana/cannabis plants, a total of 115 pounds of hanging bud marijuana/cannabis was also located and destroyed.

A criminal investigative report was forwarded to the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office for review of criminal charging and potential prosecution.

They could do something this small every day for the rest of the year and it will barely make a dent, maybe not even a ding. Of course their press releases make it sound like …They are working hard to protect you!! MCSO has been doing this for 40 years- same story different decade and “legalization” hasn’t changed their m.o. one bit. Except now if they even catch the “fleeing suspects” they just let them go- no free helicopter rides to their 90 day sentences anymore!

Many of our local teachers take their students home to help clip their pot, with the parents OK.
I wish this weren’t true.

“The investigation revealed this property was not legally licensed/permitted to cultivate marijuana/cannabis to this scale.”

So they had a permit? Why are they going after people in their permit system. Why don’t they bust the large scale black market grows. Did they send this guy a letter, or phone or email him? Or just chop him down? Non permit holders get a 10 day notice to abate, but people in the permit system get chopped. This needs to be addressed and changed its pure bs.

This happened to us. We get our state license 2 days later and we paid all our taxes and according to them we didn’t. We presented proof and said wasn’t in system.

Steps to take:

1) Get permit
2) Plant “crops”, not exceeding the permitted amounts
3) Pay taxes
4) Be sure to comply with building permits, labor law, and all state and federal environmental statutes
5) Market properly, conserve water, and
6) Pay taxes

Namaste and, good luck having a real “business”!

What part of “ this property was not legally licensed/permitted to cultivate marijuana/cannabis to this scale.” didn’t you understand to ask, “So they had a permit?”

No, it says right there – WAS NOT LEGALLY LICENSED/PERMITTED.

Why not go after people in permit system? I’m surrounded by them and not 1 single gram has been sold on the legal market. Poly pipe still sucking creek dry. Cocaine fueled planting parties. If the state ever figures out a way to enforce MTRC, 95% of the farms will fail! But it seems the tax dollar is more important.

Your surrounded by “permitted” farms? Golly gosh I think that’s what most of us are upset about. A very small percentage “in the system” are coloring within the lines. It’s a shitshow with zero accountability. They need to go through them first. The random grows will get the hint when the “permitted” guys start going down. We’re also literally and physically surrounded, and god knows what these “great business” people are doing to “bring 5.6mil in tax revenue” to the county. I know they don’t have permitted sewage, or water yet they can live at a random grow site? Trucking in water on the valley floor —- stupid. If they could put hoops on the road in front of my house and put in an RV or tuff shed they would. Real sucksexful people live in temporary housing where it’s not authorized from my understanding. Most have shitty consultants that don’t care about the communities or neighbors.

I read the press release from the MCSO, presumed innocent until found quilty. Actual facts as to exactly what goes on seem to be left out. The property was leased from 2016 to 2021. A new permit was to be reissued to a new leasing party. They paid 16000 dollars to receive assistance for filling paperwork for a new permit since the property had been permitted before with no problems, the county assured them they did not see a problem. This leasee also paid California water board, irrigation taxes, assurety Bond and also paid Mendocino county twice in January and may for renewal in 2019. All systems were go on two different occasions in 2020&2021. Then the county decided not to open up to AG ground and keep postponing opening dates for permits. Other With similar problems, are given a notification and ten days to comply. Not so in this case, any reason all properties are not treated equal under the rule of law and not afforded the same treatment. The 62 year old woman was not at the property and the leasee was in the process of moving out because it appeared the permit process was not opening as they were told.
