You will delete this comment, I promise: Why do you keep promoting adoption for these animals, which are used primarily as pseudo weapons. Its clear the average public can’t control these animals. A dog like this shouldn’t be adopted, rather put down, ended. Shame on so many humans that raise these weapons for selfish reasons; most of these types of dogs lead a shitty life next to their negligent human owners.

Wow a bit on the generalization of humans.

1st off no dog is a weapon.

I have seen many aggressive little dogs.

The dog will reflect its owner.

Big dogs are not the problem.

If you are going to be an owner of a big dog. Please make sure you have the time and space for them.

They need lots of play time and running around to get rid of their built up energy.

They also need tons of companionship. Why get a dog if you are gone working 8-10 hrs per day?

Ok keep adopting and saving as many animals as we can.

Humboldt rocks.

Where else can you go to the grocery store and see 10+ dogs waiting for their owner in random cars.

Before adopting out any breed of dog known for its higher potential to attack humans, not only should the dog be tested for temperament but the prospective owner should too. Many of the people who go looking for such a dog are likely to be the very people who should not have one.

Your point is kind of lame and doesn’t make sense. Sure there are aggressive little dogs, but no ones life is in danger when they bite. If and when a big dog like this becomes aggressive, it can mame kill and cause serious damage. There is no comparison.

And sure- blah blah blah it’s the owner not the dog. THATS NOT THE POINT. The point is these dogs can kill people and not everyone raises dogs right. And not every dog who is raised right will end up ok. In fact, there are many many instances of dogs who have attacked their owners, or others out of nowhere and killed them. Just google, “fatal dog attack on owner” and hundreds of cases will Pop up.

Ignorant, uneducated and lame comment nogov. ‘A dog like this’ comment without credibility screams narrow mindedness.

From Wikipedia on this breed:

“Antonio Martinez picked the Cordoba Fighting Dog to be the base for the breed. This breed is extinct today, but it was said that, as a large and ferocious dog, it was a great hunter … The Argentine Dogo is banned, or has ownership restrictions, in certain countries, including the Cayman Islands, Denmark, Norway, Fiji,[11] Iceland, Australia,[12] New Zealand, Singapore, Turkey. In the United Kingdom, under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, it is illegal to own a Dogo Argentino without lawful authority… The breed has also been described as looking similar to the American Pit Bull Terrier, even though the American Pit Bull Terrier is far smaller (13.5 to 27 kilograms).”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogo_Argentino

It seems NoGovernment has a better grasp of the breed’s potential for misuse and abuse than those complaining about his viewpoint. Giant pit bull? With a case count of fatalities and the most well know example of the breed being a rescue after being abandoned and being disfigured from being used as a bait dog?

You are completely uneducated on these dogs !!!! I currently own one and have never ever had any problems with him !!!! And he is 8 years old . When I got him from a breeder in San Diego, she wanted to make sure I had done research on the breed , which I had done ! They aren’t for the weak people or people who let dogs run the house . He is very loyal ! You must establish dominance or your not in a good spot to own one !
He isn’t the first Mastiff I have owned And won’t be the last either !!!
Before you talk nonsense about a specific breed , Please know what you are talking!!!!

“They aren’t for the weak people” part of your comment actually reinforces the comment you complaint about. “You must establish dominance or your not in a good spot to own one” drives his comment home. What is your goal in owning a dog with such needs?

You can take the word “weak” anyway you want to … I simply said “you Must establish dominance “ or these breed of dogs will run your house Just as I said !!!
I find it hilarious, you people find the most Negative thing to say about everything, why is that ? Just curious….
Why does it matter why I own such a dog ? You do know they are breed for hunting pigs correct? Have you done any research? Aww probably not , but that’s ok 👌🏼
My Dogo is in a wonderful loving family, where he lives his life inside . Please do your research aye . Also yes these dogs are outlawed in some countries, but here they are not 😊

Because they kill people. Although all the killings by Dogos that I found with a quick search were ones who killed their owners, I suspect where there are more of them they kill strangers just as readily.

I just prefer a dog that wants to cooperate and work together. Not one who has to be faced down in order to respect their owners. And needs an owner who has done that to be there to stop an attack. And certainly I don’t trust an owner who wants such a dog to have either done the necessary training or oblige themselves to be there to exercise that training. I suppose I would feel the same way about a person seen with a stick of dynamite in one hand and a lighter in the other- they might not intend to harm anyone but they have already displayed they will put people at risk.

Dogos are one of the safest dog breeds towards humans and other dogs. I bet that first comment thinks Marijuana makes the blacks and Mexicans rape all the women. Ignorant

“The woman mauled to death by a dog in Calvert County, Maryland Thursday was the fiance of a Prince George’s County Correctional Center K-9 handler.

The couple lived together with a breeding pair of large Dogo Argentino dogs, one of which attacked the victim.

The dogs were pets and did not work with the officer.” https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/maryland/woman-killed-by-her-own-dog-was-engaged-to-a-k-9-officer/65-566754313

So the dog owner has a 9-5 job training dogs all day.

Obviously he wasn’t thinking when he got 2 personal home dogs that need training as well.

On top of training. Should you really own big dogs if you work outside your house 9-5?

Big dogs need companionship more than anything.

The k-9 officer couldn’t have the time to train and be a companion to two other big dogs.

For years I owned Labs and Lab mixes when I worked full time. I set them up to have an indoor/ outdoor place during the day then, when I got home, we were together (and joyfully so) otherwise. They never got aggressive or neurotic or destructive. (Well honestly one tended to be quite enamored of digging but we agreed about where the digging was ok.) They were not constantly barking nor gave any other signs of stress. Of course they would prefer to be together 24/7. So would I. But not more than starving because I couldn’t provide. Sometimes you get what you need. Not what you want.

I also would love to know what these people are feeding their Dogos because of the weight of them 🤔
And the reason I say that , my Dogo is 85 pounds, his mom was 65 and dad was 85 pounds…. these dogs are often mistaken for a pit Bull… oh and by the way I also own one of those dogs 😂
As with anything, good people & bad people.
Unbelievable

Agreed Kristy. I also own a Dogo and she’s 10 months old and is 46 pounds. 100 lbs seems excessive for this breed. My Dogo is best friends with a 14 year old wiener dog who she adores. She also sleeps with 2 cats at night. If you treat them with love, they are great dogs.

No Government, these type of dogs have been in my family for generations. You are wrong with your tunnel vision. You need to get out and meet a few…

Preferably with a substantial fence between. What is the purpose of owning dogs whose owners seem to admire them because they will kill someone? Are they not valued because they are willing to kill? What other purpose do they serve? Make you laugh? Alert you to danger? Companionship? All those things are served by poodles or Labs with a much lower chance of harm to others. Unless of course the goal IS harm to others.

Poodles can be quite aggresive, specially towards kids.

Yes. But death by Poodle is a miniscule fraction of death by pit bull or other dogs deliberately for their aggression. So why would anyone go for the high probability of mauling? That is not a rhetorical question. It goes to the motivation for breeding and owning such dogs.

No government is 100% correct. Again our animal shelter is putting the public at risk for caving to organizations like PETA. Total nonsense. Pit bulls kill!!!!!

The danger with pit bull bites isn’t even how aggressive they are–so are chihuahuas–but it’s how they bite, hold on, and worry their prey. Causes massive damage.

I suggest dog stew as a destination.

I happened to adopt this sweet heart and he is the most kind and sweet dog ever known to man. He wants to kiss, cuddle, and play all the time. It’s amazing how misinformed people are and the accusations they will make off one photo of a dog!

Thank you to Kym for posting this or I would have never found him.
