63 New Cases Reported Today; California to Keep Current Mask Guidance

novel coronavirus Covid-19 HumboldtPress release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

Sixty-three new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Humboldt County since Friday, bringing the total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus to 4,135.

Public health officials continue to encourage residents, especially those who are unvaccinated, to wear a face covering and avoid large gatherings, adding that getting vaccinated is the best way to protect oneself and the community from the virus.

California will keep its current indoor masking guidance without change until June 15, the California Health and Human Services (CHHS) agency announced today.

CHHS Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly announced the continuation of the existing guidance in a virtual news conference Monday morning. Dr. Ghaly said California reviewed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidance and decided to stay with June 15 as the date those who are fully vaccinated will no longer be required to wear a mask.

Three Pfizer first-dose vaccination clinics are scheduled over the next three weeks. All county residents age 12 and older can sign up to receive this vaccine at MyTurn.ca.gov. Appointments are encouraged but not required.

These Pfizer clinics will be held at College of the Redwoods, located at 7351 Tompkins Hill Road in Eureka. See the schedule of first-dose clinics below.

  • Thursday, May 20 – 2 to 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 27 – 2 to 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 2 – 2 to 6 p.m.

In addition to stating a child’s age when signing up on My Turn, parents or guardians of minors must provide written consent in person at the vaccination clinic. A consent form will be provided.

Humboldt County Public Health encourages parents to talk to their kids about the COVID-19 vaccine before arriving for the appointment. CDC-recommended advice includes:

  • Be honest with your child. Explain that shots can pinch or sting, but that it won’t hurt for long.
  • Engage other family members, especially older siblings, to support your child.
  • Avoid telling scary stories or making threats about shots.
  • Remind your child that vaccines can keep him or her healthy.

Anyone with questions about signing up through My Turn can call the state’s COVID-19 hotline at 1-833-422-4255.

Residents are still encouraged to contact their primary care provider to discuss vaccine-related health care. Another resource includes vaccines.gov, which locates nearby pharmacies with vaccine availability.

8300 fatalities in the 40 year old and younger group out of 170,000,000 million people after almost 2 years of COVID-19. What a joke, we had to test ,track at an unprecedented rate to even get this pathetic of a number. Sounds like a normal flu season if under 40. Why would anyone under 40 need an experimental shot? Lamedemic for the younger half of the nation. Keep taking your drugs boomers, maybe you’ll live to see 100. Arthritis, shingles, dementia bad hips, wore out knees , oh the golden years.

Watch youtube?

But only of the big, bad right?

Don’t watch videos of Drs explaining the potential dangers or patients with severe side effects from a jab.

They’re censored anyway, mostly.

Here we see quite a stunning lack of awareness or empathy. A ‘pathetic’ number to you is someone elses loved one being taken by an insidious virus, made even worse when your own neighbors have decided to deny theres a even problem!
I pray you or anyone else never knows that pain.
Its sad that many people have a tough time with reality or showing ‘feelings’. I guess others just hate the world.

How does the younger half of this ‘lamedemic” get the advantage of a vaccination campaign? 1) when they show up at a hospital emergency room with a broken arm after falling off their skateboard, they don’t have to wait while old people who can’t breathe get priority, 2) they can still live at home in their mother’s basement and she is there to feed them, 3) granny will still be around to watch the kids while they go off on vacation, 4) the million plus employees of nursing homes still have a job, 5) those who have grandparents to tell them stories of the “good ol’ days” might not be so easily fooled by anti vaxxers into believing nonsense that the diseases that can be prevented by vaccination were fiction, 6) some might actually respect and love their parents and would prefer not to see them painfully die while gasping for air, 7) if they see their parents being respected in their old age, it might make them less paranoid as to how they themselves will be treated in the future.

I’m sure there are more benefits of not being so exclusively self centered but there’s only so much time to explain them to people who are so unwilling to give it up.

How come you only list the pros, are the cons that bad? Typical tunnel vision, sometimes its hard to acknowledge both sides , to your surprise i am in my silver years , and a grandfather. I just don’t believe it is that important for the younger crowd to vaccinate, if anyone will see UNKNOWN long term affects from experimental vaccine, it will be them. Just ask the us army why they don’t make covid vax a requirement. How did that anthrax vax work out? Any young soldiers with long term affects. Try looking at both sides boomers.

Vaccine side effect monitoring requires a high level of vigilance.

It’s called “pharmacovigilance”.

It requires an “active” system of surveillance, like P.R.I.S.M., used successfully during H1N1 to identify a serious vaccine side effect, Guillain-Barre, but was subsequently discontinued for some reason, prior to Covid19, when we needed it the most.

And someone must be in charge.

B.E.S.T. will be the replacement, but is not fully functional at this time, it will begin analyzing vaccine data in June.

You heard me, June.

Better late than never, I guess.

The “passive” system currently in place is VAERS, is voluntary and is not what I would consider pharmacovigilance at all.

It has many shortfalls such as incomplete reporting and lack of testing.

And there is no one in charge.

It is currently a hodge-podge system.

Pretty slip-shod if you ask me.

Auntie O.

Several people here have told you they’ve taken several vaccines, but they are not sure about this new type of jab.
So why do you insist on calling them anti vaxxers?

Maybe I missed it but I haven’t seen any research you’ve done, yet no one calls you an anti researcher.

Since California became a “sanctuary State” (immigration being a Constitutionally designated Federal power) and got away with it, and intra-state public health is not a Federal power, it should be clear to even those who want the Federal government to mandate rules that it won’t happen.

Covid19 is big pharma’s retaliation for the crackdown on the opioid crisis.

By golly if we don’t let them have their way with the opioids they sell, everyone will be getting a needle stuck in their arm on the regular.

They will make their billions one way or another.

The fear used to be many people would be dying from their products, now the fear is that many might die without them.

How do you rationalize the Federal government’s power to “crackdown on opioids” against the will of “big pharma” with them not having the power to prevent doing whatever you think they are doing now?

Extortion.

Big Pharma is hitting back.

The government doesn’t know how to stop the spread of Covid19.

And they might be in on it.

Taking this comment is in an article on vaccination, do you fear that there is some plot to take the temperatures of millions of people by sneaking in chip that can measure internal temperatures into vaccines injections? For what purpose? Do you think injecting a “mote” that needs a gelled skin contact ultrasound reader to activate it to give a temperature is going to tell anyone (who?) anything useful? When taking a temperature with an infra red sensor without touching is so easy? Under what conditions do you see that as having any function at all outside of a hospital or animal research lab?

Pretty simple. It would work as a test to determine definitively whether or not someone has been vaccinated…

No temperature reading showing, not vaccinated.
A temperature reading showing…vaccinated.

Elevated temperature showing… vaccinated, and a possible breakthrough case, confirm with PCR test… Low cycles of course.

Your infrared thingy, not so much.

Again, to do what? Read a temperature or I suppose an analog oxygen level maybe. But it is not powered. It must be powered which is done through microwave or at least ultrasound. A reader needs to be in contact to power the chip.

I suppose a big enough burst of microwaves might get deep enough to power a chip but you’d be really, really sick dead before one could reach into a muscle where a vaccine is injected. A certainly no tiny chip is going to be readable in the midst of a microwave burst. If anyone would want a temperature reading in that situation anyway. So anyway you look at it, it doesn’t work the way you think it does.

Hello RHBB commenters: It’s kinda hard to know what to believe in reality about this Covid-19 shot and if it causes many adverse side affects. I read a lot of different web sites to try and understand what is going on. For one thing I do not trust Dr. Fauci or Bill Gates at all. What site I go to is a web site that has been around a long time because he promotes many, many doctors to view their points about this vaccine (it is not a vaccine), and that site is called RENSE.com. In todays stories he has on a Dr. Sherri Tenpenny who breaks it down so lay persons like myself can understand. It’s an hour long show but it is well worth watching. Dr. Tenpenny says it’s the spike protein that is causing all these bad side effects in people who take these shots. Like I said in the beginning it is hard to know what really is the truth. I would like to believe my government, main stream media BUT I don’t!!! As for me, myself and I, let me tell you a story that happened about 2 months ago. I was going to my shed to get some wood. When I got there I heard two mice talking about this Covid-19 thing and Yin mouse asked Yang mouse are you going to take the shot and Yang mouse said I think I’ll wait awhile to see if the human subjects pass muster as we have done for years at a time to see if it is safe. I think that is sage advice and I’m going to follow that advice.

No. Dr. Tenpenny does not “break it down” so it can be understood. She doesn’t understand herself and offers pseudoscientific language to make it sound like she does. And sells lots of “alternative” care and products. If profit motive is unacceptable for vaccine companies, why does she get a pass for it?

The point is that Mouse Yang may think he has time to wait to evaluate success- not that anti vaxxers accept decades of data on vaccinations anyway- but he might get sick tomorrow and in the process pass the disease to Granmouse Yang too.

And there it is. Anti vaxxer medical rhetoric you just disavowed. You think that the virus itself doesn’t have the same spike proteins? And lots more different ones and a viruses ability to shut down the immune response while it proliferated wildly.

“In short, the virus’ genome gets tagged with a special marker by a human enzyme that tells the immune system to stand down, while at the same time ramping up production of the surface proteins that SARS-CoV-2 uses as a “doorknob” to enter cells.”

In simple words, any possible issue with the vaccines’ spike protein, is multiplied massively by the virus itself. Only with the accompanied ability to suppress the immune system in its host while it runs riot. While the vaccine uses a short lived irritant to alert the immune system where the vaccine has a spike protein that doesn’t leave the area of the injection then disappears, the virus spreads itself from organ to organ in a race to reproduce itself before the natural immune system can rouse a defense.
