Scanner traffic indicates that at 4:39 p.m. a lightning strike caused a solo vehicle on Highway 101 near the Willits Scales to drive off the road, into a power pole. The pole is now down and leaning against a tree.

The solo vehicle reportedly careened off the southbound side of the road near mile marker 49 and multiple agencies are responding.

On Highway 20, two vehicles have reportedly collided head-on and first responders are being directed to that scene. A medevac has been requested to respond to the crash. The reporting party indicated a silver truck and a dark gray smaller sedan are involved in the collision and suggested there is a major injury associated with the crash.

Also, north of Willits on Hwy 101 near mile marker 49.1, a vehicle has reportedly plowed into a tree.

The scanner is busy right now with multiple incidents associated with the afternoon storm system that brought lightning and rains to the area.

Its Saturday. Not a commute, but the usual Deathrace 2000 with speeding, stop sign running and distracted driving.

No one works on a Saturday? That must be nice.So all gas stations, grocery stores, medical facility’s, building supply centers, grow shop, fire stations, police offices, ambulances, pge, communications, transportation, etc, have all decided to not be open on saturdays? When did that happen?

Unless you literally get hit by lightning while driving, there’s no excuse for crashing. Who are these imbeciles? Distracted by some crackling lights in the sky? Jesus H. Watch the road and work the gas, brake, and wheel accordingly. It’s fairly simple.

I guess you have never had a strike hit within 100ft of you. 30 years ago that happened on Central Ave in McK and me and every other driver went off the road, some I am sure from grabbing their ears, others by the shock wave

Does not sound like a very fun day for a few drivers. Hoping the ones with serious injuries will be ok. I guess if lightning struck a tree or pole right next to a moving vehicle the driver may try to move away out of fear. Jerking the steering wheel and ending up losing control. Highway 20 has turned into head on alley. That road requires your complete attention. Some nearly blind corners, narrow in spots, etc., does give you much time to react from an oncoming vehicle using the whole road. Thank you to all the first responders covering these accident scenes.
