I too am so sorry for you and what you must be going through. I had a cat dart out in front of me at night a few years back and I was upset for a long time even though there was nothing I could have done. No good person wants to injure or kill an animal . I’ll be thinking about you and your daughter and sending healing thoughts your way.

With all due respect, I would counsel against this. People are unstable and unpredictable. This dog owner may be angry and lash out at you or your daughter, or try and sue you down the road based on the apology being an admittance of wrongdoing, etc. Just explain to her (in child terms) that it sucks but sometimes shit happens.

Yes very true we know who the owner is and will not approach her and have explained to my daughter this experience is a lesson learned and that it was unavoidable and that the poor pups were not where they should have been . My daughter has a heart of gold and is now having nightmares that we have to work through. Thank u all for all the well wishes ❤️

That is very sad news. I feel extremely sorry for the person who hit the dogs. No driver wants to hit and kill any living animal. Try not to blame yourself because sometimes things happen when driving that we just cannot control no matter how hard we try. May the two dogs RIP. I don’t know if they were strays or belonged to some one. People need to learn to restrain their pets properly so things like this don’t happen. This could have led to a serious car accident or even death!

I always try to call it in if there are dogs running lose around the road before an unsuspecting driver is surprised by them. Condolences to everyone.

I watched a small dog get run over on I street Tuesday. It ran out of the Carson park gate directly under the back tire of a Tundra. It was terrible. The driver never saw it. Gave me anxiety all day. I hope the owner is ok, I think about her every time I drive by

Very sad indeed, for all parties.
I believe the most important lesson that your Daughter, the dogs owners, and anyone who reads this story and it’s comments could take away from this tragedy, is how essential and mandatory the responsibility of proper fencing, leashing and alertness is, in regards to handling and containing our precious pets.
There is no room for negligence. Adults should educate their children, and remind guests, to be aware of leaving doors open to houses and gates. And to use leashes when walking your dog, at all times.
Peace to all.
