About 10:30 a.m., emergency dispatch requested a medical helicopter for a man in his sixties who fell from a tree in the Muskrat Circle area of Shelter Cove. REACH helicopter accepted the mission and said they would be at the landing zone about 11 a.m.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.

UPDATE 11:50 a.m.: The helicopter is returning to the Humboldt Bay area.

UPDATE 1:18 p.m.: “We got paged out for a person who had fallen from a tree in the zoo area,” said Cheryl Antony, spokesperson for Shelter Cove Fire. “The strangest thing is yesterday we practiced how to use a landing zone up there.”

“He was laying there,” she explained. “You could see his ladder was still way up in the tree…His wife was the one that called 911. They were on the backside of their property clearing branches. She tripped and rolled her ankle…[The helicopter] took him and she went by air land ambulance.”

What, the “H”,
Puest?

Or should I say, the “h”?

It’s short, Puest.

Just a short sort of a lesson.

Or would that be, sort of a short lesson.

Are short jokes okay?

Be patient, don’t be the short sort.

It’s a short-shorts day.

FYI !!!

🤔,😁.

It is cases like this that should nudge you into purchasing medical helicopter insurance. Their rates are very reasonable, and they can be your live or die life line. I hope the husband and wife will be fine.

It’s my parents, and they’re doing fine. Just a few bumps and bruises. Thank you!

I’m so confused. The ladder was way up in the tree? He was on the ground, apparently fell from the tree but she was also injured? He was medevac’d and she also took an air ambulance?

My dad was up the tree and fell out of the tree after a branch gave way. My mom ran to check on him and ended up falling down the steep side of the hill. Jack and Jill style.
