Redwood Preparatory Charter School Found Ways to Keep Community Rolling Even During COVID Separations

Community is a core value at Redwood Preparatory Charter School and even Covid-19 couldn’t keep them apart. Morgan Drake, the kindergarten teacher and Family Events Coordinator, creatively found ways to bring a sense of fun and connection to a school year defined by social distance. Families were invited to show off their furry friends in a virtual dog show, channel their star power in a Family Film Festival, and display their construction skills in a Family Lego Build-Off. For each of the events, she created a movie with all the entries and then invited the entire school community to vote. We had great participation and were able to celebrate the home-school connections in unique ways. Redwood Prep is a charter school in Fortuna with grades TK-8th.
