[UPDATE 12:52 p.m.: Located] Search for Missing 11-Year-Old Underway in the Samoa Dunes

Search and rescue feature and iconA search is underway for a juvenile lost near Samoa this afternoon. According to a tweet by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department at 12:21 p.m., “Search and rescue underway for 11-year-old female lost in the Samoa Dunes near the 900 bl of New Navy Base Rd. Please avoid area while deputies work.”

According to a report over the scanner, the Coast Guard helicopter has been requested.

The girl is from out of the area. She is reported to be 5’4″ tall and 110 pounds.

UPDATE 12:33 p.m.: The juvenile has been located, according to the scanner.

UPDATE 12:52 p.m.: The Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a tweet that the girl has been found.

A big thank you to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the Coast Guard. Very happy she was found and is fine. Wonder if she was by herself or if her parents were present. I would assume it must have scared the h**l out of the girl and parents.
