13 New Cases Reported Today; County Requests 6,610 Vaccine Doses for Next Week

Humboldt COunty COVID-19 InformationPress release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

Thirteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Humboldt County today, and one case originally reported in November was determined to be a false positive and has been removed from the county’s count. A total of 3,915 county residents have tested positive for the virus.

Humboldt County has requested 6,610 doses of COVID-19 vaccine — 3,510 Pfizer, 2,000 Moderna and 1,100 Johnson & Johnson — from the state for next week. The state continues to transition its vaccination allocation and delivery process to third party administrator Blue Shield, which has indicated that counties may not receive all requested doses.

Public Health is holding second-dose mass vaccination clinics today through Sunday as thousands of county residents are due to complete their two-dose series. Those in need of a first- or second-dose of vaccine who aren’t already scheduled for an appointment can sign up through a local pharmacy. Go to vaccines.gov to view availability at all participating local pharmacies.

A “false-positive” from November?

How did they figure that out in 5 months?

(and only 1?…Sure)

By March 2020 redcross says that 20 percent of blood donations had COVID-19 antibodies, masking and distancing a day late and a dollar short. Take a vaccine a year after everyone has already been infected, what a joke. I needed the vaccine in August of 2019 not May 2021 ,what a joke.

This gets so old. In fact what was said was that “The American Red Cross began COVID-19 antibody testing on all blood donations beginning on June 15, 2020. Since that time, according to data shared with CNN, the percentage of donations that were positive for COVID antibodies from unvaccinated donors increased from about 1.5% to 20%.

According to the report, about 1.5% of the donations in the first week of July included COVID antibodies. The presence of COVID-19 antibodies means a person has likely been infected with the coronavirus at some point.” https://www.masslive.com/coronavirus/2021/03/covid-antibodies-present-in-about-20-of-march-blood-donations-to-american-red-cross.html

Not March 2020 but March 2021. Which means that 80% of people currently have no antibodies and mass vaccination is needed. And that in July 2020 few people had been exposed.

You are correct,I did get the date wrong. March of 2021 20 percent of donors had antibodies, which most people I know won’t donate if they are sick. So 20 percent had covid with zero symptoms, only 2 percent of the nation donates blood. Maybe instead of giving a vaccine we should offer free antibody testing. Oh that’s right, more money in the vaccine and unlike covid we shouldn’t talk about long term affects. So as of March 20 percent of the nation doesn’t need a vaccine but the government is pushing you to get it, just like the younger crowd,no need for a vaccine .

First you don’t know that 20% had no symptoms. Just that it was unlikely they had symptoms at the time they donated. They could have been sick a couple of months previously.

I too suspect I had covid-19 in June last year. (Not 2019.) I felt bad, had- ahem- intestinal issues but no fever so I just assumed it was not related to what I thought was a respiratory illness. And would still be assuming that except I use a Pulse Oxymeter when I feel bad and the reading at that time was 90% saturation. Unusually , even dangerously low by any standards. But I didn’t feel that bad and waited to see if it would go back up. Which it did the next day. So, if I did have it at that time, I suppose I would have been considered “asymptomatic” because I never went to the hospital or related my condition to covid. Now that I have read more about covid causing low oxygen saturation, and having also a device to measure it, I wonder if that is what I had. If so, it wasn’t asymptomatic. Far from it. My situation matches the stories of people who had fatal levels of impaired oxygenation but shocked doctors by appearing normal. I just didn’t know at that time that was an effect of covid. A strange illness. Could be wrong of course as it’s easy to assume it because there is so much noise about it.

It’s unknown how long natural immunity after being infected will last. Indications are it’ll be somewhat short-lived, while indications are immunity from the vaccine last much longer. More studies are, of course, being done to answer this for sure.

If you didn’t die from COVID-19 the first time, doubtful you’ll die the second.

It is ratings definitely, and it will be remembered as one of the biggest panics of all time. Some will never recover , like being afraid of earthquakes.

I would recommend shutting all these “it’s just a flu” bugs up by asking the PHO the last time the “flu” killed 35 Humboldtians in 1 year.

Or, how many traditional “flu” years does it take to create a death toll similar to 1 year of Covid in Humboldt.

It’s at 35 now? So almost 18 times more deadly than Marci kitchens. If you added up the estimated life expectancy of covids victim and Marcus victims, she might of actually taken more years…

More than likely Mike, since the average age of a covid fatality is 75, just 2 shy of average life expectancy, well sheet ole Joe could go any minute. Why would anyone elect someone past life expectancy.

Mike,

Or you could look at it like this:

Without a culturally instilled deterrence and legal repercussions of drinking and driving, we would easily have ______ more Marci Kitchens events.

Measures like masking, distancing and now vaccines are part of trying to keep a problem from getting out of control.

It’s 38 deaths in Humboldt from Covid now.

I’m sure the last time an influenza did that here was 1918 or 19.

Excellent analogy. The law is drinking and diving is illegal , to save lives. We have to wear a mask and do all the other stuff here to save life’s, it’s the law. So it’s actually incredibly fair, in my mind, to make a comparison between the two. Thanks for supporting my argument. And is it 38 in one calendar year? And fruther more how many deaths from drunk driving or diving in general occurred in that same calendar year? I like numbers. That’s why I can’t get on board with either side of this arguement

More Americans have died from covid than from any war including the two world wars. Clearly, these wars were insignificant and shouldn’t have been reported on at all, since so few people died. They were just blown out of proportion by the media.

So many depend on a daily covid article to express themselves on this blog comment section. I’m not sure what they would do without this site and covid news.

“They”?

Talk about being in denial.

I’m familiar with ‘the editorial’ “WE”.

When projecting, it apparently becomes, the editorial “THEY”.

That one is new to me.

( …..”I’m” not sure what “they” would do……)

Classic.

Claiming to be uninvolved while implicating and convicting yourself, all at the same time…

Priceless…

For monitoring oxygen too.

That’s some small [self-edit] and brain jokes right there.

Y’all must drive lifted trucks.
