Press release from the Humboldt Area Foundation and Wild Rivers Community Foundation:

The Humboldt Area Foundation and Wild Rivers Community Foundation today announced Laurel Dalsted as the new Director of Donor Relations and Development. The Director of Donor Relations and Development is an integral piece of the organizations’ Advancement & Philanthropic Innovation department.

Originally from Arcata, Dalsted attended College of the Redwoods before transferring to the University of California, San Diego, to complete her bachelor’s degree in International Studies. After more than a decade in fundraising and communications in San Diego’s nonprofit sector, Laurel returned to the North Coast and could not be happier to have the opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing and growth of the region she has always considered home.

“I’m thrilled to be back in Humboldt County, and I’m excited to work with our wonderfully generous philanthropic community. The Humboldt Area Foundation and Wild Rivers Community Foundation are leaders among rural community foundations, and it’s gratifying to be a part of a team whose mission is supporting our unique four-county region,” says Dalsted.

Dalsted plays a central role within the Advancement & Philanthropic Innovation department at Humboldt Area Foundation and Wild Rivers Foundation. Together, the organizations serve Del Norte, Humboldt, and Trinity counties in California and Curry County in Oregon.

“We’re so glad to welcome Laurel to the foundation,” says Gina Zottola, Vice President for Advancement & Philanthropic Innovation. “Her background and experience are a perfect fit to help to build and grow partnerships with local donors and advisors, and advance the foundation’s mission of making our area a thriving, just, healthy and equitable Region.”

If you are a current or prospective donor or would like to connect with Laurel, please send us an email at [email protected].

It is good to see an educated and experienced person placed in a sensitive position on the North Coast.

Best wishes, Ms Dalsted, you set the bar for public service.
