Mendocino Cannabis Alliance iconOn Monday 4/27 starting at 9AM the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors will resume their special meeting to discuss the new local Commercial Cannabis Activities Ordinance.
The Mendocino Cannabis Alliance has chosen to take a focused approach on a few key recommendations for Monday that we believe are absolutely essential to achieving the important and widely shared goal of supporting the good licensed operators currently in Phase 1 & 2.  It is essential that this group not be conflated with those who are responsible for egregious environmental violations or violent criminal behavior. Along those lines we are working to communicate the importance of ensuring that our suggested amendments are added to the ordinance.
In short, we recommend the following:
Continued operation for compliant Phase 1 & 2 operators. Continuous prioritized review of applications from Phase 1 & 2 operators transitioning to the new ordinance. Properly sort out the wheat from the chaff: do not remove applicants from the permitting program until they have a chance to resubmit a complete digital application for review.
Our full memo with the specific amendments can be found HERE.
As part of these efforts, we have also secured a Legal Opinion outlining the legal basis for prioritizing the Phase 1 & 2 operators as they transition to the new ordinance.  We have heard repeatedly that there may be concerns around this prioritization, so we felt it would be helpful to provide definitive clarity on this question.
If you support these recommendations please email [email protected] to share your support for MCA’s proposed amendments and the good operators in the local cannabis permitting program.  If you are a licensed Phase 1 or 2 operator in Mendocino County, please include a brief description in your comments of how the compliance process has been for you, to help educate the Supervisors on the challenges that have been inherent within the local program and your desire to demonstrate compliance.
Now is the time to raise our voices in support of Phase 1 and 2 operators in Mendocino County.
In solidarity,
Mendocino Cannabis Alliance
