That was fast. I think it’s only been 3 years since half the road washed out at that spot.

It will be about two years and two months since it went out by the time they start fixing it.

Two and a half until it’s finished from the time it went out.

With a 15 minute delay, maybe folks will get out of their rigs & have a little visit with each other?

The County should come up with a workable traffic plan.

If they don’t they will have a real problem when traffic is backed up so far it will be impacting Redwood Drive.

They need to allow eastbound traffic to continue up County Yard Rd periodically enough to keep things safe on Redwood Drive.

They should also consider working at night, when traffic is lessened.

Also, they should seriously consider improving all pullouts going up Alderpoint Road to the top in order to accommodate and sort out all the people trying to pass after being held for so long.

If they don’t use County Yard Rd as a detour…

Traffic will easily back up to Arthur Road if not Wallan.

Probably backed up to the 101 exit or beyond coming from Garberville, maybe blade along Hippy Hill to create a waiting lane?

Traffic coming from Redway will be a whole other nightmare.
It will need to be staged in the Bear Creek Mall pullout.

Anyone remember the poor soul that directed traffic at Redwood Drive at AP Road when the bridge was replaced?

That guy was good!

There will need to be a crew of them for this job.

I hope they can expedite it’s completion, so it doesn’t take forever.

Some businesses could even open early or late to accommodate shoppers.

Alderpoint Road and beyond is not going to be a fun place to work or try and get to town from this spring and summer.

May, June, July, August….
Probably way into September…

What could go wrong?

Don’t forget the four other jobs on AP Road around Harris Rd that start today.

That will make it even more interesting.

Those are supposed to be over the next three months.

Good time to buy your medevac insurance.

Am I confused? I thought measure Z was gonna fix all our roads. Isn’t the Board supposed to audit monies paid out EVERY year? And report same to us? Am I remembering wrong?

No disrespect to the maintenance crew but Southern Humboldt county’s road program is a joke ! It consists of no ditch maintenance work which inevitably causes Culverts to plug (“storm damages”) ,occasionally shoveling asphalt into huge potholes that reappear in months ,some roadside mowing every few years .

You should see what happens when they ditch the roads.

The hillsides start coming down.

No joke.

Ditching is super important, as long as it isn’t over done.

I’ve seen a lot of the pavement get removed when they run the ditches with a loader. A lot.

The hillsides will slip right down and fill the ditches here and there and you are right back where you started from, only the road is narrower, and the slip goes to the top of the cut.

It’s real hard on the fences.

Garberville road crew has 250 miles to maintain. They mow every year. Your probably the one who bitches and moans when you get stuck in traffic control on briceland Rd. Or salmon cr.
