One Dead, Two Hospitalized After ‘Stabbing/Slicing’ Incident in Arcata

Video from Ladamanee Noopheng

This is a press release from the Arcata Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On 4/18/21 at about 0121 hours, officers with the Arcata Police Department responded to the 1000 block of G Street for the report of a male that had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers located three subjects with injuries consistent with being inflicted by a knife or stabbing/slicing weapon.

During the subsequent investigation, the Arcata Police Department was able to identify the involved subjects and determine that the three involved subjects knew each other prior to this assault. This fight between the three subjects left two of them hospitalized and one deceased.

This appears to be an isolated event and there is no information that there is any threat to the public at this time. Further information will be released as the investigation progresses.

The Arcata Police Department is requesting anyone with information on this investigation please contact Detective Sergeant Ortega at 707-822-2424.

Sounds kinda weird.. this is humboldt though lol
It’s hard to read this shoddily written ‘report’. I’m wondering if the stabber had his knife taken in self defense and the original attacker is the dead guy.. ???
Anybody have any answers as to if the perp is the 3rd person or a mysterious 4th person??

The guy that is dead, was not the attacker.. He was with his girlfriend and friends. The attacker tried starting problems. I’m not going to give any further details though while it’s still under investigation.

Yes. He was arrested. I’m devastated to say that the deceased one is my best friend’s brother. I’m still in shock about it. Such a good kid, so young. People now are just too comfortable with weapons. Mixing alcohol, drama and knifes/guns is NO GOOD. Such a tragedy. Please pray for the family.

Indeed. True “warriors” (of the social justice type). These are the same brave souls who use the cover of night to terrorize innocent citizens by vandalizing and attacking their homes. We should all take careful note of the behavior of these people and give them and the things they say/do exactly the amount of respect they deserve.

We have common sense knife control. That doesn’t mean that some stabbings won’t occur. Once we have common sense firearms laws, some shooting will still occur as well, but fewer.

Knife control, definitely slow down a criminal. Good thing felons follow the laws otherwise gun laws would be dumb. People in prison are definitely worried about new gun laws, is there no such thing as common sense anymore? Make guns illegal for everyone to limit what criminals can get. Cocaine is illegal, that sure slowed its prevalence down in the criminal world.

It’s trying REAL hard to make knives as much as a threat as a gun. If one of those dudes had a gun the damage could have been wayyy worse and with much less effort. It takes balls to stab somebody, not so much with a gun. Guns are easy.

How uncritical and irrational does one need to be to realise gun control does not prevent death, it just prevents MORE death.

Between 10:05 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. PDT, [Paddock] fired more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition from his 32nd floor suites in the Mandalay Bay Hotel, which killed 60 people[a] and wounded 411, with the ensuing panic bringing the injury total to 867.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Las_Vegas_shooting

Please cite the last knifing that killed 60 and wounded 850 in 15 minutes….

I’ll wait patiently.

Dr. Linkletter, TLDR needs his own scintillating headlines blog full of links he doesn’t himself read, nor think about.

It hasn’t consciously occurred to him, but he hopes no one asks for worldwide gun vs. other causes homicide totals.

He hopes no one asks why he doesn’t frothily support anti-everything laws—since everything kills more than if we only stay home and parasitize local blogs with cherry-picked abstract data, like good DNC chatbots who only need click their heels thrice for the Secret Service Angel Patrol when nutters with knives come running.

It’s very difficult to own a gun in China. The mass destruction weapons of choice there are;
1. knives and swords
2. explosives
3. running people over with vehicles
4. poison

#2 seems to happen more frequently there than here.

China’s mass murders don’t hit the papers as often, but here’s one;

All of them got a lot- Timothy McVeigh killed 160 plus people with fertiliser. The real issue is that there are always people who are lawless- think of themselves as above the law. For example Mexico doesn’t allow citizens to own gun yet has the highest per capita murder rate. There are countries with relatively high ownership of guns (few are as high as the US though) such as Iceland and Canada that have low murder rates.

One thing that makes a place have few murders is the safety its citizens feel. Their trust in their neighbors, police and government to keep them safe so they do not feel the need to act for themselves. On the opposite side is that uncontrolled crime creates insecurity and people get used to settling their own disputes by violence.

I’m not really disagreeing with your point.

But my point is that comparing knives to guns is ridiculous.

Kind of like comparing guns to bombs, which also happen to be illegal, unlike knives.

McVeigh had to buy off the radar ingredients for his device, because he knew that too much of certain materials would be a ‘red flag’.

Common sense laws that prevent easy access to highly deadly materials are good.

If there are either law abiding, self controlled, respectful citizens, then guns are going to be seldom used. Or guns can be removed from the citizens but to remove dangerous gun from the country or make them unmodifiable into dangerous ones, it needs a Constitutional Amendment and a cooperative populace. And who is going to cooperate with groups both right and left constantly using hateful, denigrating speech towards their fellow citizens for everyone to hear?

With criminal gun violence so uncontrolled where even killing children is no longer shocking, where a accusation of racism gets a hundred times the press space than a random killing of the most innocent bystander, knowing the government can not offer even an illusion of safety nor even muster much outrage with convicted felons found with guns or effectively keep them out of the hands of the mentally unbalanced when they already have laws covering that, who is going to allow such as you to change the Constitution ? You have already expressed utter contempt for those who disagree with you. Why should they trust to your benevolence in making laws controlling what they see as the only thing standing between them and a government you would have act on your contempt? I don’t and I hate even being in the presence of guns. Your willingness to insult or to try to censor people with differing opinions is a huge warning that trusting the law to those like you is more dangerous than any gun. Because when you say such hateful things regarding even the most ordinary people, why should anyone not question your intent?

Nah.

I have contempt for misinformation.

It is not a ‘debate’ that the election was stolen; it was not.

There is no room for disagreement, therefore, to promote that the election was stolen is a lie, or worse.

To say vaccines cause more death and diseases than the diseases themselves is a lie, not a disagreement.

Your comment is filled with innacurate blame.

So, I respectfully disagree.

You ignored the hate speech rhetoric that Trump espoused and enflamed the worst of America with, making it popular and acceptable, all the while blaming liberals for their hate of said speeches.

You complain of insults by people, yet you haven’t said the word ‘Democrat’ in ages.

It’s always “liberals” and similarly you have made your feelings for “liberals” completely clear.

Myself, I separated Republicans from Trump and maintained that good Republicans would never support Trump.

Breaking news TRB…

Vaccines are possibly being linked to Herpes Zoster as a nasty side effect.

(Shingles), is a very painful, potentially lingering, viral
condition.

The long term risks, impossible to guage in the near term, are beginning to rear their ugly heads.

Unknown yesterday, headlines today.

What a difference a day makes…

The risk seems to be associated with multi dose vaccines, as the occurances were differentiated between a first and second dose.

Yes, the incidence is again, very uncommon, but when it comes to vaccines, nobody likes surprises.

Of the 491 in the study, 6
presented with Herpes Zoster (shingles)
after vaccination.

5 after one dose, one after the second dose.

1.2%

Unknown whether the vaccine caused the shingles or triggered it.

It seems likely that lots of people have had chicken pox.

Trump was histrionic and inarticulate in his speech but liberals in general, at least as respresented on this site, as guided by the TDS in the press, attached inappropriate interpretations to them to make them confirm their worse fears. Then accuse anyone who even faintly believed he had a point (or specifically in your case just disagreed with you) of being misinformed (ie too dumb to know better.)

I’m sorry Kym chastised you and you decided to resolve the conflict with adding the word “respectfully” while still keeping on pigeonholeing people by their name rather than actually reading what they say. I know it short circuits hard work by just insulting the person according to the name you identify but there are compensations if you do. You would save time by others not trying to correct your misinterpretations of what they said or not having to try to drag Kym in her role of moderator into your arguments. I know you feel unjustly targeted but that is true for most people and no excuse for offense.

Sure, but if you wanted a pallet worth, you would likely be due for inspection, unless you’re a special effects guy or something.

We encourage all persons involved with binary explosives to report any suspicious behavior or unusual activity surrounding these materials to ATF and to local law enforcement authorities. (Suspicious behavior may include a customer attempting to purchase large quantities of binary explosive materials while knowing little about the product, or a customer who acts nervously or behaves in an unusual manner.)

Not all bombs are illegal and tannerite-like binary bombs are pretty easy to manufacture.

And comparing knives to guns is not ridiculous when knife wielders kill more people than the people who use certain rifles and our benevolent overlords are attempting to criminalize possession of those rifles under the false pretense of “saftey”.

there are recipes for things online I wont mention. you need to deal with the human heart, not the availability of tools. there was a time that nearly everyone believed his neighbor was also an image bearer of God, because that was the culture we grew up in. Now, with the death of God in the human heart, nothing stops the feral minded from becoming Ah Pook, the Destroyer.

This is why the US Armed Forces just announced that they will be issuing rocks instead of rifles from now on. The reasoning is that rocks are far cheaper, more dependable in adverse environments, and have the same potential for killing as a rifle.

Is it true the Arcata city council recently cut APD’s budget by $800,000 a year? That might have something to do with this stabbing and the one a few months ago, this is getting out of hand. If so maybe they should reconsider the cut.

From the n. Coast journal

From the n. Coast journal

“Arcata police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred at about 1:20 this morning.

Arcata Police Chief Brian Ahearn said the incident began outside the Arcata Theater Lounge on G Street when a man confronted another man he’d had a “beef” with and stabbed him. The fight moved into the 600 block of 10th Street and, at some point, a third man became involved.

The fight ended with the man who appeared to have instigated it dropping a knife and collapsing on G Street, Ahearn said, adding the man later died of his wounds.

The two other men were transported to local hospitals with stab or cutting wounds, Ahearn said, adding that two knives were recovered from the crime scene, which spanned multiple blocks. “
