Human Remains Located at Fields Landing Yield Clues to Investigators

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department has discovered a few clues to help them learn about the human remains located on March 22 at Fields Landing. “The remains were examined by HSU Anthropology,” Samantha Karges, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Deparment told us. “Examiners determined the remains to likely be of a male adult, greater than 6’ tall.”
At this point, she said, “No obvious indicators for the decedent’s cause of death were found.”
Now investigators have to use DNA to determine the identify of the person the bones belonged to.
“The Coroner’s Office is currently conducting DNA comparisons of the remains to other missing persons cases for our area,” Karges explained. “The comparisons are done by the Department of Justice Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit and can take up to 3 months.”

They didn’t find a name stamped on any of the bones to identify the remains so “Now investigators have to use DNA to determine the identify of the person the bones belonged to.”

I just hope that they can identify the poor person that was found. There must be a family that has lost someone and is waiting to hear the results. Whoever he may be RIP.

For now pathologists are looking to find out what gender the remains are meaning male or female. Simple science. They arent interested for now what type of sex this person had.
