Man Abandons Truck and Child in the Middle of Eureka; Professional Fighter, Cass Bell, and Partner Help Keep Child Safe While Waiting for Police

Man detained

Man detained is believed to have abandoned a child in a vehicle in the middle of the road. [Screenshot from video by Cass Bell]

Today, about 3:45 p.m., a man abandoned a pickup in the middle of O Street near 5th in Eureka. Bystanders, in this case well-known local fighter Cass Bell and his partner, Chelsa Corral, went to check on the vehicle and discovered a small child all by herself in a car seat playing with a phone.

According to Bell who went live on Facebook, “[W]e started filming when we realized [there] was a baby inside in case somebody recognized her or if the truck had been stolen and ditched.”

The video has been updated so that the child’s face is blurred.

Bell, who recently announced he would be fighting again on April 9, wrote on his Facebook page, “We were scared the truck would be hit from behind since it was in the middle of the road, but luckily things didn’t go as bad as they could have.”

Eureka Police arrived on scene. They located and detained the man who left the vehicle. Child Welfare Services would be contacted, an officer said.

We have requested more information from Eureka Police.

Cass TKO buddy!! It’s sad what drugs can do to people, I’m sure this guy loves his daughter, but he made a bad decision today. Thankfully the minor was discovered by good people. We need more good people like you down at the southern border right now, where 10000+ unaccompanied minors are scared and alone, abandoned by their parents as well, headed into the hands of the cartel! This is not how the world is supposed to work, and is sickening the level of child abuse that is going on in the world we live in. Much respect to you guys for looking after that little girl.

Most people, including those who don’t make a living physically bashing people, would have done the same. No we don’t need more people who make a living being violent.

Well, what do you called the armed forces?

Military , with violent , out of work people, building empires, destroying communicties, robbing natural resources, and of course the rape and pillaging of ethnic minorities.

We are people, with a history of violence.

“Most people, including those who don’t make a living physically bashing people, would have done the same”

I disagree. You and your tax dollars are funding the largest child trafficking ring in the world! Putting little kids in cages! Using them to smuggle drugs! For sex slaves, cheap labor! Making them sleep on concrete floors with Mylar blankets! We as a country should be ashamed of ourselves. And all this child abuse equals votes! The US doesn’t care about these kids, if they did they would hold the parents accountable! For abandonment! Yea I wish more people like cass bell would go down there and kick some ass! I’m tired of paying for abortions and child abuse!!! There’s a wall around congress but not around our country!! Wtf is going on it is truly a shit show!!!

Just fyi unless you get an abortion youre not paying for it. They cost 4-500 dollars, with no knock out drugs/gas. That costs more.
Part of roe v wade decision was that no federal tax monies can be used for abortion which by the way is 3% of wbat planned parenthood does. If youd like to see less unwanted kids then support their efforts to supply birth control to all, and access to healthcare for all pregnant women choosing to have children regardless of how much they can pay.
If youre concerned about unwanted kids i suggest you change your stance on abortion, it ends the abuse before it starts. Its often a blessing for a child to avoid a life of abuse and rape;those kids dont usually make great adults and often continue the cycle as they know nothing else.
You ought to want to pay for it!

I’ve been involved in martial arts since I was five years old and been training mixed martial arts since 2011. I run across this type of thinking often.

There are two meanings of the word violent. One meaning refers to a sudden release of energy and the actions of sports including mixed martial arts certainly fall under this meeting. However the other meaning of the word violent does not necessarily apply to martial arts or combat sports at all, most of the very best combat sports asked fleets do not feel violent as they are competing.

I suspect that it’s hard for some people to imagine that there are individuals out there who are much much much tougher than they are. When you’re competing against another combat sports athlete, you understand that they are as tough as you are and that you’re not hurting their feelings, and they are completely capable of doing with any fiscal injuries that result from sport.

Irregardless of what most people would do, these people did a good deed.
They deserve recognition for it.

Their profession may not suit your tastes but is an accepted sport among agreeable consenting adults.
Is it brutal yes, but so is football, soccer and any sport where you repeatedly batter your head and body.

I do not approve of hard drugs and in this case I don’t know who is or is not using them. I’m not in the loop.
I don’t use facebook so I haven’t seen some of the pics.

Wow, this is an example of why it’s important to normalize giving your child up for adoption. People feel like they are a bad person for having an abortion or giving it away so they try to care for a child despite mental health or drug addictions preventing you from being a good parent. I’m not saying all mentally ill people can’t properly care for a child but people with severe issues and addiction, like myself, could never care for a kid properly, 100% of the time. I’ve been responsible and thus still childless but even responsible people get pregnant and there should be no shame in giving the kid to a good home.

Normalize? Do some googling about adoption statistics and be sure to exclude those touted by agencies selling babies; look into the foster system if you really want to get a sense of horrors. Adoption? Normalize? I’d have a hard time giving a dog up for adoption and yet people do it with children….baffling. How about the Village it takes to raise children? Just a bunch of “Tar and Feather” neanderthals who do little to help stressed parents or children who had no parents or had abusive ones.

Yes normalize. There is no shame in giving a child a life you never could and being selfless enough to let them go. Circumstances for each birth mother are all different, some aren’t as sinister as you are projecting. Unless you have walked a mile in their shoes why don’t you keep your very narrow judgement to yourself?…..

Half-a-brain you obviously have zero experience with, or have some serious issues with adoption or the reasons that people do. For one, I am adopted. This conversation can go a couple ways, you with some healthy, positive understanding, or it’s going to be fight between us if you have moral hangups over something I had no choice in as a baby. You pick, yo.

J

Thank you, it’s hard to understand what Halfabrain was trying to say, but clearly he didn’t understand my point. Newborms rarely go into the foster system, if you give a baby up as soon as it’s born it’s generally adopted. Yes foster care has MANY flaws, just another reason to not keep a child past the common adoption age, traumatizing it along the way before CPS finally takes it. Adoption is almost always better than being raised by an unhealthy birth parent. Weak, selfish people consider it a right to keep a child and give them a horrible life whereas strong, ethical people care more about the child and give it to a healthy home.

You forgot to say healthy white newborns who have an adoption family waiting.
Read up on the 95% who do end up in foster care. So much abyse

CPS here is horrible,do you not read the news?? Our county is one of the worst in the state for the entire system!!! Volunteer with casa, youll hear the horrific stories of abuse and then what those kids face once in foster care. Beyond heartbreaking.

I just donated to planned parenthood in your honor, i truly hope you stop spreading lies about foster system.

Are you from the place on Myrtle in Myrtletown, the faux family planning place thats really a christian we’ll give you baby stuff but only if you sign documents youve read our pamphlets place, and tell women to not seek abortions, mainly not advising them its an option while taking federal tax dollars as a family planning place? You already got in trouble for breaking federal laws, dont push it with more lies!!!

Those were some insane “facts” especially the ones you made up about me and where I work. I have a good code of ethics so I left the sociopathic garbage fire you call Humboldt long ago. Yes, a majority of people do prefer to adopt their own race, even when they are not white. No duh you should line up.an adopting family in the 9 months you have to do so. I do hope no one’s stupid enough to believe 95% of newborns aren’t adopted. That numbers not true even for toddlers. That’s great you donated to planned parenthood in my name, overpopulation is the number one issue on the planet. Preventing and terminating unwanted pregnancies prevents a lot of child abuse. As a child psychology major I do not have to read up on the foster system which I already spoke negatively about, thanks. Next time provide a link for your outrageous claims.

Nice that it occurred to someone that people can break down who are otherwise just young and/or under stress unimaginable for those more privileged. Don’t know the guy and maybe he is a jerk AND sick that out culture sells so many trucks that are oversized and obscenely expensive (could by a couple of houses in the SF Bay Area for 35k in the 70s) and absolutely not needed to do any job but make a lot of noise and waste resources while so many have to live in vehicles to survive and children are eating poisonous at worst and nutrition less food at best (unless they are from affluent families). Priorities…our culture is abandoning the basics and the vulnerable and yet so many jump on the guy’s case…of course what he did was wrong and perhaps super dangerous (wasn’t there, can’t say how dangerous..the “Rescuers” may be playing up the situation).

Working at McDonald’s is more violent than fighting a few times a year with an opponent who is willing to compete.
A fighter can be creative, like an artist, and for some that’s where their talent lies.
No more violent than working a big feedlot or extracting/mining/fossil fuels.

Glad the child is ok, hopefully a wake up call for dad.
