Wintery Weather Ahead

The National Weather Service in Eureka warns that wintery weather will likely roll in early tomorrow afternoon and stay until early Wednesday morning.

While areas above 2000 feet in eastern Humboldt, northern Mendocino, eastern Del Norte and Trinity Counties could seen 4 to 12 inches of snow, other areas of those counties could see hail as well as rain.

According to the NWS, “Motorists are advised to carry chains if traveling across the mountains on highway 299, highway 3, and highway 36.”

In my lifetime, March has always been the worse month for snow. My grandmother always said the same thing. I guess some things never change. It just seems like it.

Bring on the snow and rain, the good lord knows we don’t need devastating fires AGAIN.. The snow pack is much needed.

I agree “cut” . . . however it is “hear, hear” . . . (unless you were being tongue in cheek), It comes from England’s Parliament. When a speaker was saying something particularly relevant or sublime, supporters of the comment would shout out from their seats “hear him, hear him”. Adapted and shortened by others into the common language to “hear, hear”.

About 10 years ago Rattlesnake Pass closed Easter Sunday from a huge snow and ice storm.

I was by Shasta and Trinity Lakes last weekend. They are pretty much empty.

Scott Mtn… maybe 18″ alongside the road at the summit.
Minimal snow at Trinity Center… there was a little snow only in shady spots.

It’s way to late to even hope for a snow pack.
Sad but true.

I remember a year where we got snow over 20 days in April. My neighbor seriously nearly went crazy. We are up high but that was 15-20 years ago.

Back in the early 80’s, there was a March that had over 20 inches of rain for Eureka.
