the Rolling Meadow Ranch Project Proposal

Attention Concerned Citizens:

The Board of Supervisors will hear the Appeal which would deny the cultivation permits for Rolling Meadow Ranch, LLC on Tuesday, March 9th. This virtual meeting starts at 9 AM; you may access the live stream of the meeting by using the link: https://humboldt.legistar.com

When the Appeal to Rolling Meadow Ranch Agenda Item comes up for discussion, as announced by the Board of Supervisors, you may make a comment of up to three minutes.  Call the conference line and turn off your live stream.  Please call 669-900-9128, enter Meeting ID 959 5363 6617 and press star (*) 9 on your phone, this will raise your hand.  You’ll continue to hear the Board meeting on the call.

When it is time for public comment on the item you wish to speak on, the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors staff will unmute your phone.  You’ll hear a prompt that will indicate your phone is unmuted.  Staff will then ask you to state your name and begin your comment.

Please note that the Appeal is far down on the Agenda, so it may not be up for discussion until well into the meeting.  It’s not tenable for everyone to listen in for that long, so it’s useful to employ technology via texting and social media to alert family, friends, and community members when the Appeal Hearing actually begins, to facilitate participation.

I encourage you to read the Staff Report and Comments to the Clerk of the Board, posted in the Agenda for this 3/9/21 meeting at COUNTY OF HUMBOLDT – Calendar.  I am interested to hear your opinion about the apparent continued advocacy by Humboldt County Staff on behalf of this Project, while simultaneously dismissing factual evidence, disregarding serious community concerns, and disrespecting the People of Humboldt County and the established procedures for this permitting process.

Despite the March 1 deadline for public comments to the Clerk of the Board regarding this Appeal, a letter from the attorney representing the Rolling Meadow Ranch property owner dated March 5 is included in the Staff and Public Packet, and entered into the official record for the Appeal Hearing.

And yet, important issues presented by substantial public commentary continue to go unaddressed, including comments from the local Fire Protection District, and the InterTribal Sinkyone Wilderness Council.  Why is this?

Ask your District Supervisor directly:

1) Rex Bohn (707) 476-2391  [email protected]

2) Michelle Bushnell (707) 476-2392 [email protected]

3) Mike Wilson (707) 476-2393 [email protected]

4) Virginia Bass (707) 476-2394 [email protected]

5) Steve Madrone (707) 476-2395 [email protected]

You may also continue to submit your comments for the administrative record to [email protected]

I don’t like marijuana, but I support legal megagrows. They’ll drive the price down and start putting all the growdozer fuckwits out of business.

That’s not how it is working so far. Prices for black market pounds have been higher than they have been in years.

Dispensaries are not allowed to let people smell the product or even see it before buying, and it is too often improperly cured (damn near wet), and too expensive. Seems that legal megagrows are actually helping black market growers.

If all the illegal growers were out of business, the county would lose a tremendous number of people, countless business would close, few would be left other than park workers. Might sounds nice until you have to mail order your groceries.

Oh noes, we might have to actually allow some industry that doesn’t center around drugs…

There are a lot of conceited and selfish assholes. I’m with you on that. However- they are the people you see because they stand out in their arrogance and bad behavior. There are still many small mom n pops- too small to compete w/ the mega-rich in this fake “legalization” scheme- who are good neighbors living simple rural lives. You don’t see them standing out because they aren’t acting out like assholes. They are your decent neighbors. This particular mega-grow is owned by a very rich man- a decent rich guy but still very rich- who will get even richer by taking out little independent folks. And many “legal” grows are run by the asshole green-rushers who mega-grew and grabbed enough cash to get the permits. I wish there was more enforcement against bad players- both “legal” and not- using existing public safety laws. I’m definitely with you on pushing out the jerks who bum-rushed our county for big stacks of cash, ego puffing and selfish interest hidden behind false claims of “we care about the community”. It’s been a horror show…

Sure Bushtails.. U got any bright ideas? I didn’t think so. Whilst the Triangle would definitely be better off to diversify its economic index most certainly.. Cannabis, is not necessarily a bad option. Try replacing the kind of GDP that Cannabis brings with Cucumbers.. it just ain’t gonna happen..

Besides, not all cannabis hill farmers jack up their trucks and coal roll, some folks just need a truck to run the farm.. not everyone needs to be a Prius driving roadster…

Stop it already.

Your hate for cannabis is noted.
Why didn’t you comment the other day when one died on HWY 36. Alcohol related driving and the driver took off.

Wow those dam beer companies.

Focus on reality. Cannabis helps more people than it hurts.

Go grab a bottle of big pharma and keep to yourself.

Small cultivators is what this county needs and 10,000 is not enough.

The small grower is your neighbor and the same person you see at the post office.

A mega grow means we have a few peasant workers and a huge out of town owner.

No thanks. Stay local and support your neighbors

Lol is right. The only people left would be park workers? Lol. I’m pretty sure we could figure out how to live pretty well without illegal grows.

Oh Sure. Let’s judge people by what kind of Vehicle they drive…Don’t worry Bushy..PLENTY of MEGA grows on the horizon.. just in more appropriate places.

This “mega grow” just happens to be in the exact wrong spot for the environment it’s in.. Give ‘em an acre.. maybe 2 with property like they have.. but make NO mistake.. this project reeks of corruption.

There are certainly a bunch of lousy players out there, in the “Grow Bro Culture”.. and Guess what.. a lot of them afforded permits because they blew it up and hacked the majority of the trees Down. Those are the majority of permit holders now. And what u don’t think they don’t play Original Market?

And exactly WHO do u think is going to run this beast? Probably more “Grow Bro’s” who don’t live there.. and care little for the land this grow occupies..
SHUT ‘EM DOWN!

Be it ever so Humboldt

Limit all permits to 1 per person and no more than 1 person can grow. It would put a stop to all the chatter, say 5000 sq ft. but then the issues would still be impacts to environment. Always someone whos going to complain. However if you wanted to grow hay or grapes, have all the water and use as much fertilizer as you like 👍

This proposed wilderness megagrow is an atrocity against the region’s environment and its canna-culture.
