[UPDATE 9:15 a.m.] Crash on 299 with Extrication, One Person Trapped Inside

Emergency personnel are responding to a report a traffic collision on Highway 299 near mile marker 30. According to scanner traffic, there are two people trapped in a white Nissan Sentra who need to be extricated from the vehicle. The call went out over the scanner just before 8 a.m. We will update this post when we find out more information.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Update 8:20 a.m.: First responders who just arrived at the scene are reporting that the vehicle is on its roof, and one person is trapped inside.

Update 8:30 a.m.: “Extrication complete,” said a voice over the scanner.

Update 8:50 a.m.: The roadway is now open.

Update 9:15 a.m.: Photos provided by reader Sarah Chapman. Chapman says the crash took place “just east of Berry Summit.”

I hope all the people involved in the accident are fine. The highway looks like it could be a little icy, especially early in the day and a shaded cold spot. Drive safe folks. That accident is a warning sign!

What a terror
Years ago a logging truck overturned ahead of us. Sparks were flying everywhere.
The driver was pinned by the steering wheel but was unhurt but he almost killed himself worried about fire. Finally convinced him we had extinguishers and he mellowed out. Poor guy. Being trapped is a nightmare.
